Finding location of records for German towns #general

Jonathan Rose <JONATHAN.ROSE@...>

In working my family genealogy, I have been able to copies of registers
and records >from archives offices (stadtarchiv) in some German towns &
cities. But it is often hard to find out where the records for
individuals cities are held either by an archive or registry office. I
would interested in getting information on the location of these
offices. Is there a list online anywhere or a website or email address
for finding out where the records for an individual town are kept.
Please answer on my personal email thank you.

LUBITZ Family #general

Bubbles Segall

Further to my message yesterday about the LUBITZ family.

Just to summarise:
I am looking for Sol LURIE, the son of Akiba Leib LUBITZ and his wife
Pessie ALUFOVITZ. Sol changed his name to LURIE and lived in Hammond,
Indiana.
I found his burial on JOWBR - buried in Hammond Indiana. Date of
birth 21 March 1894 and died 5 June 1973 and buried in the Elmwood
Cemetery in Hammond.

Does anyone know the name of his wife? Don't think he had any children.

Please respond privately

Need Help on Viewmate; Read a Given Name in 1807 Jewish Census #hungary

Ed Zwieback

I need help reading a handwritten given name and have posted an image on
Viewmate.   Shown is a portion of the 1807 Jewish Census of Bonyhad.  I
need the whole name of the sixth name on the list, but can't read the
given (first) name. I believe the given name starts with "La" and has 6
or 7 letters. The written surname is zwybak, all l/c.The list may be
written with German letters.

Many thanks for your help.

Finding the death certificate for Leopold Braun #hungary

nancyscholem@...

Hello,
I am (so far unsuccessfully) seeking the death certificate of my great
grandfather, Leopold/Lepot/Shlomo Yehuda Braun.
He died in Budapest between 1900 and 1910. His last address was Kiraly
U 19 in the 7th district. He was born circa 1850. His parents were
Josef Braun and Charlotte Politzer Braun. His first wife was Jenni
Fisch >from Tiszalok and second wife was Marishka Berkowitz from
Hummene. He moved to Budapest >from Galsecs (Secovce) and is buried in
the Csorsz uca cemetery in Buda.
I have found his grave there but it is not legible.
It would be so important to me to be able to mark his yarzeit...
Thank you for any suggestions

Litwak (aka Kleinfeld) #general

Searching for family of my father Morris Litwak who left my mother and 2
children in 1951 and went to Haifa Israel. Left Israel around 1961 and
changed name to Klein or Kleinfeld. He was born around 1913 and
remarried in Israel and perhaps had children. I suppose he came back to
United States. I am 70 years old but never saw him again since two years
old. Any info would be helpful. He is originally >from Poland and was
married to my mother. They both came to united states in 1947 >from
Zeilsheim DP camp. They were in Russia during the war and had a child
who died in the DP camp and then two more children in United States. I
am searching and still searching for any possible family related to him.

Y-37 Marker #dna

Marilyn Levinson

Dear Group
My name is Marilyn Wallach Levinson.
Many years ago I had my DNA tested and the result is that I am 97 percent
Ashkenazic Jewish. I read articles that state that this population
originated in the Rhineland. Many of my closest matches >from FTDNA were
persons with German ancestry. I asked one of these close matches with
German ancestry, how might I proceed to find out if I could locate any
German ancestors. He suggested that my brother who had already been
tested on FTDNA agree to have his results tested under the FTDNA 37 Y
marker test. I have no understanding what the results mean.
At the 12 marker my brother is an exact match for a man at the 24th
generation. His earliest ancestor is >from Altenstadt Germany.
At the 24 marker my brother is an exact match for this same man at the
24th generation.
At the 37 marker my brother is a 2 step match for this man at the 24th
generation.

Can any one in very simple terms explain what this means, and what other
information in the report I should be looking at. I
thank you for your help.
