Aline(de) Wolfsthal - BMD Information Help #germany

Yaron Wolfsthal

Dear Group,
In researching the direct relatives of musician Prof. Joseph WOLFSTHAL
the name Aline (Alind) WOLFSTHAL came up few times.

In Joseph Wolfsthal's Berlin/Vienna Obituary (Neue Freie Press Feb 8
1931), Aline appears as his sister.

Alinde is also listed in some of Berlin's address books (e.g., 1929,
https://digital.zlb.de/viewer/resolver?urn=urn:nbn:de:kobv:109-1-3874240).
She is listed as a pianist, much in line with the family's traditional
occupation.

However, I was unable to find any additional information about
Aline/Alinde - birth, death, burial. Nothing.

Can you recommend, where should I look for this information about
Aline/Alinde (BMD or any other relevant info?)

Additional information that might be relevant:
The parents (Lazar/Laser Wolf(s)thal and Fanny Horowitz had a daughter
called Helena, listed in JRI - but she died in 1885
(http://agadd.home.net.pl/metrykalia/300/sygn.%201438/pages/PL_1_300_1438_0041.htm
, line 242)

Thank you - Yaron Wolfsthal, Israel (Yaron.Wolfsthal@...)

DNA Terminology Question #dna

David Goldman

Greetings, all. Could anyone explain what the meaning is of such terms such
as the following that are reported when receiving notification of matches:
Y-12, Y-25, Y-37. What is the significance of those numbers when checking
matches with regard to paternal DNA?
Thanks,
David Goldman

Shalom JewishGenners,

Concerning the given name Malca. Read with great interest the
discussion on this name. But for some reason, no one mentioned the
fact, that among Ashkenazi Jews, there are many, many girls/women
that carry a double barrel name and one of them being Malca. I am
talking about Esther Malca, many of the Esthers in my family
research database also carries the name of Malca.

All the best,
Aizic Sechter

I'm trying to help a friend find his great grandfather's cemetery, he
was a Rabbi who died 1905 in Ostashin, Belarus. His name was Eliezer

him or even list his name?
Thanks

Searching for Anna LANDA or descendants in Israel #general

Joseph Walder

I am trying to contact Anna Landa or her descendants in Israel.
According to a Yad Vashem testimonial written in Russian by Ms. Landa,
she is a grand-daughter of Emanuel and Blyuma Murakhovsky of
Tarashcha, Ukraine. Emanuel Moisevich Murakhovsky was an older brother
of my grandmother, Esther, who left the Soviet Union in 1923.

Anna Landa lived on Duvdevani Street, Bayit Vagan neighborhood, in
Jerusalem in April 2000. I have no idea whether that address is still
valid or indeed whether she is still alive.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Gayle Schlissel Riley mentioned that "On Facebook there is a web page
for my Polish town -- Dawny Tarnobrzeg. They have photos and articles
on the town's activities. They have a translation button. I have been a
member for years and I have made friends, who have provided docs.
This type of source is useful. I recommend checking your town for a
web page. "

Agreed, Gayle... but I'd like to remind folks there are 54 Kehilalinks
pages for Galician Towns that are now in Ukraine and Poland... right
here on JewishGen at https://kehilalinks.jewishgen.org/Poland.html .
