Translation assistance on Viewmate requested #poland

joAnne <jvanett@...>

Hello,

I have posted 3 documents on Viewmate that I am hoping someone can assist in
translating.

The first document # 16921 I found attached to another one I had ordered.
It is of a previously unknown relative, Benjamin Altkrug. I only have part
of the document which I believe to be a death certificate. If any more
information can be obtained it would be deeply appreciated.
http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=16921

The second is a marriage document >from Suwalki.
http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=16923

The last is another marriage document >from Bakalarzewo but this is in
Cyrillic. It is posted in two parts so the top & bottom are both visable.
http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=16924

please email me privately.

Trying to locate Mori FLOREK #general

Shmuel Fisher <Shmuel@...>

Via the Yad Vashem online database of pages of testimony, I have found a submitter
who has my family name, FLOREK and is >from my grandparents town in Poland,
Wyszogrod. I am trying to find that submitter.

In 1999 he was alive and living in Nahariya Israel. I sent a letter to his address
and have gotten no response. Either he has moved, or is no longer living. If the
latter, then I would like to find his descendents.

Do any of you know of Mori FLOREK or any of his descendents. Please respond
directly to me.

Re: A follow-up on ShoahConnect.org... #galicia

Susan Rosenthall <sarosenthall@...>

I would just like to add that another feature of ShoahConnect.org is that
once you find a relative that someone else listed, you can also do a
"related search" (on the same page) and find all the people that were
submitted by the same person who submitted the name you have found.

Also, on Philip Trauring's recent post, about how to add the "C" to your
toolbar, part of the link he put in did not come through as part of the
link, but if you copy out the whole link he put in his email, and then
paste it into your browser, it will work.

With much gratefulness to Philip Trauring and this listserv for allowing me
to find this information.

Seeking info on Diana (TRAURING) DAVIS from Brentwood, Essex #unitedkingdom

Philip Trauring

I am looking for information on Diana DAVIS, formerly Goldina TRAURING, who
posted Pages of Testimony at Yad Vashem on her parents and brother in 1989,
listing an address in Brentwood, Essex as her home. She would be approximately
82 today. Her husband's name is Michael. She had a son Graham and a daughter Anne.
If anyone knows or knew her or her children, please contact me off-list.
If you can otherwise help me find out what happened to this family, I would be
greatly appreciative.

Thank you,

Two More films re: Jewish-related material from Amsterdam #general

Howard Orenstein

As a follow-up to Gershon Lehrer's post, "Old Movie >from Amsterdam filmed in 1932,"
here are two more links to films.

(1) Jewish Amsterdam. A film about Jewish life in the Jewish district with a
wedding, markets, diamond and a prayer service in the Portuguese Synagogue, with
images of the painting of Rembrandt's Jewish Bride and images of the city (1935).
The Jewish-related material doesn't begin until about the 10 minute mark.

(MODERATOR: tinyurl http://tinyurl.com/27sk3gt )

(2) The film shows images of Amsterdam's Jewish quarter in the years preceding
World War II. The film begins with the arrival of a train at Central Station,
followed by shots of the center, the canals and the activity on the market of
Waterloo (1935). Nothing specifically Jewish, however, in this short film.

Re: Bad Arolsen/ITS/Int'l Red Cross Search Requests #general

I had a very recent experience with a Bad Arolsen request. I was looking into the
fate of a couple listed on the cards (found online at JewishGen's holocaust pages)
for people who escaped to Tashkent around 1940.

I sent an email to the ITS site and was prepared to wait forever for a response.
However, I received a letter in only about four-to-six weeks. In this case, it was
to tell me they had no further information, so I can't discuss follow-up, but
wanted to tell you that the response was relatively quick.
