Bouncing e-mails ??? #courland #latvia

Carol W. Skydell <cskydell@...>

Folks,

When a message you send to another researcher listed in the JGFF or FTJP,
fails to be delivered, please report the bounce to
<lostNfound@...>. In your message, provide your own full
name and JGID, and the name and JGID of the person with the bounced e-mail.

Under the leadership of Saul Goldstone we have a considerable group of
volunteers who contact people in their local area who have changed their
e-mail addresses but have neglected to notify JewishGen. The ability to
connect with another researcher who may have a connection to your own
research is vital and the reason we established the lostNfound help desk.

If you are willing to devote some time to helping in this effort, please
contact Saul at
<sgoldstone@...> and provide him with your home address and
specify the towns to which you are willing to make phone calls. These can
be as wide an area as you like. Please consider joining in the effort to
find all researchers who are lost.

Many thanks for helping with this.

Thanks to the database at http://grub.its.uct.ac.za/cgi/cgi_RootWeb.exe, I
am now researching another name.

According to the 1927 arrivals, it looks like my wife's great uncle was
traveling to a cousin, one H. SHIRKIN at 29 Upp. Ross Str Doornfontein,
Jhb.

We have hundreds of names on the family tree, but this one is a new one.

I'd be grateful for any information or suggestions.

All the best,

Dear Martin,

My uncle is a Sirkin and I believe he has his tree on the internet.
Look for "Louis Leibe Sirkin"

Kind regards
Sarah

Hoping someone can help with this query which is >from my WERTHEIMER
research in Bratislava.

I have a Samuel SCHENK and under his name, where the name of the
birth place is usually listed, the researcher has typed
'Theresienstadt 197 Bla'.The Google search produces the Holocaust years,
but Samuel SCHENK would have been born c1820-1830 and his death
would have been prior to the 1930s.

Thanking you

Payment to Czech National Archives--Results #austria-czech

m leonards <m_leonards@...>

On 1 Feb 2005 I posted an inquiry about how to pay the Czech National
Archives for a document. I received several messages advising me that
rather than wiring funds, it was possible to pay with a personal check in
US$ dollars. One correspondent told me this was also possible with Canadian
dollars. However, a few people suggested that certain insurance and other
requirements made paying with European currencies more difficult.

I sent my personal check by regular airmail on 4 February.

The document arrived yesterday. Note that the Archives sent it by certified
mail, so I had to pick it up at the Post Office. It appears to be a
complete transcription >from the Jewish records, including the cause of
death.

Thank you all for your help.
