Jewish Genealogy Courses Spring 2016 #lodz #poland

Greetings...here in JewishGen land we are dedicated to making the
search easier by promoting better organization ( (want to find the
items quickly?) and research methodology (need to remember where you
got that piece of data?). Our classes are detailed on
www.jewishgen.org/education

Organize & Research Online (starting April 21st) is for advanced
beginners who have used Ancestry and other online databases and still
have questions or want to really organize information. It focuses on
your immigrant ancestors and their immediate families in the United
States. See the full description of the lessons etc on
http://www.jewishgen.org/education/description.asp?course=40046
Highlights: Lessons are read/downloaded at your own pace; this is a
one on one personal mentoring program where students post an ancestral
branch, set goals for their research, and work with the instructor
24/7

We also offer one of our Basic courses, Lets Get Organized in May.
This text based course with daily exercises is part of the Value-Added
Services program, and we waive the tuition for those who have
contributed $100 to our general fund within the last 12 months....And
we're planning a May Value Added Class for the new Belarus Website!

Notes: The sedar can be a wonderful opportunity to exchange
information and encourage family interest. Also, consider the 5 minute
videos on navigating JewishGen and its key databases on the bottom of
the education page (http://www.Jewishgen.org/education)

happy hunting!

Matlokesi Sualki Lithuania #lithuania

Judy Silverman

Hello.=A0 I am beginning research into my Lithuanian ancestors and am
hoping to identify their town(s) of origin. I have found a 1923 US
immigration card where the handwritten birthplace for the applicant
appears to be "Matlokesi Sualki Lithuania." I assume that "Sualki" is
"Suwalki" or "Suvalkija" but what might "Matlokesi" be?

Thank you for any assistance.

After having spent several hours doing researches in many directions,
I'm very glad to tell Moshe SCHAEFFER that Sonia HIRSCHOWITZ was
buried in LAGOUBRAN Cemetery (West Cemetery) in Toulon (Var) in the

What is the best way to get it ? I tried to find this cemetery on
Findagrave. Is there a different name for it? Thank you for your help in
this matter.

Sending a message to the FrenchSIG!f #france

Rosanne Leeson

Dear FrenchSIGgers,

This is just a friendly reminder that, when sending a message/response,
etc. to the FrenchSIG you MUST remove all diacritical marks in French
names, etc.!

These cannot be read by the JewishGen server, and result in
indecipherable marks, many of which even our decoder is unable to
decode. This only delays your message, and creates more work for the
Moderators, who are volunteers, and who then have to send back a note,
requesting that you resend without the marks, etc.

Thank you for abiding by this rule!
