Need a Bronx Probate Court Lookup #general

A. E. Jordan

Is someone happening to be at or going to the Bronx NY probate court?

I need to know if records exist for a family and they require you to come in
person to search the computer and then order it and come back. I was hoping
someone might already be there to save me the trip to go to the court just
to see i the records even exist.

The deaths I am researching are 1944 and 1956.

If you can help please email me.

Thank you

Allan Jordan

DRAY family brick wall question #general

Dorann Cafaro

Hi Everyone:
I have been looking for the DRAY (surname) for several years and have yet to
find any solid lead. My grandmother's name was Dorithea Dray Louise GRAUER and
I was told her "Dray" came >from a family surname.

Her father was Louis Grauer b 1854 Baltimore MD & died 1918 Merion PA - her
mother Florence MAY b 1865 New Haven CT died 1933 PA. Louis' father Sauel Samuel
Grauer b 1814 in Raudnitz an der Elbe died 1892 Philadelphia PA. His wife
Hannah is the only family member I do not have a surname for and she was born
1821 Austria/Germany married in US died in 1885 Baltimore MD.

So wall seems simple Hannah must be Hannah Dray but I can't find any such
person. Love any ideas to break this wall.

Thanks Dorann Cafaro

JRI-Poland Kopyczynce Records Project #poland

In April, it was announced that there are newly available AGAD records for
Kopyczynce. These records are 1879-1919 marriages and 1915-1933 deaths.
We have fully funded the marriages but are still looking for $380 to
complete the indexing of the death records. If you have already donated
to this project, we would like to thank you very much for your support.
If not, we would welcome contributions in any amount.

Please go to jri-poland.org/support.htm for instructions on how to make
your donation. Please be sure to apply your donation to "AGAD-Kopyczynce."
Lastly, please send a note to Karen Steinfeld (ksteinfeld@verizon.net)
with your name and contribution so that we can keep track of the
donations.

Thank you very much for your consideration.

Re: Avraham on Headstones #ukraine

Hi,
It may seem anecdotal but it has long been the custom to use the names
of our Father and Mother (as in the Jewish people), i.e. Avraham and
Sarah in place of a "missing" name or those who were converts to
Judaism. Recently as in April I buried my best friend whose Hebrew
name was not known to us. The rabbi who officiated at his funeral
used "Avraham ben Avraham". Of course there are many instances where
the father's and mother's names are actually Avraham or Sarah.

Family name---GILGUN #ukraine

P May <may.p3@...>

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone can help provide any information about people
from the Ukraine area roughly bounded by Zhytomyr, Polonne and Berdychiv
by the name of GILGUN who may have moved >from the area and/or country
perhaps to Ireland or the UK >from 1620 onwards?

If nothing specific is available for the name GILGUN, does anyone know
of any general wave of migration out of this area to Ireland perhaps
from 1620 onwards?
Also if anyone has any general information about the name GILGUN in that
area anecdotal or otherwise I would be very interested to hear it and
very grateful.

MANY THANKS !!!

Paul May

Reuben REUBENSOHN Family #general

Sheldon Dan <sheldan1955@...>

I am researching a branch of my family originating in Upynas, Lithuania, and
possibly living in South Africa.

One of the children of Itchak Aizik DEN was Reuben (originally Ruvel), born in
1877 in Taurage, Lithuania. He changed his name to REUBENSOHN and eventually
lived in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he was in the mining business. He
married Anne NEUMAN (born 1885) and had two daughters, Ruth and Lucille.

Ruth married Zavel JAFFE and had two children, Allan and Renee. Allan married
and had three children. Renee married Meyer PESACH and had three children.
Lucille may also have married and had a child.

Reuben died in 1942 in Johannesburg.

If anyone knows about them, please contact me.

An Excerpt from A Book #general

Amit N

Hello,

I've been doing some renewed search on known family members, and found
out my grandmother's uncle appears on a book named:
A Magyarorszagi Symbolikus Nagypaholy fohatosaga alatt dolgozo
szabadkomuves paholyok tagjainak nevsora : Hivatalos kiadas / kiadja a
magyar kiralyi belugyminiszter. - Budapest : Magyar Kiralyi Allami
Nyomda, 1920. -

Being in Israel I find it very hard to believe I will ever come across
a copy of that one. Is anyone on this group able to put a hand on this
book? I would appreciate the help. I am interested in an excerpt
regarding Dr. Istvan SPITZER >from Zombor/Sombor, which is supposed to
appear on page 215/263, not sure which or whether both.

I would appreciate any help.
Best regards,
Amit Naor
