Our memories of Phyllis Kramer z"l #general

Stanley Diamond

The JRI-Poland family is saddened in learning of the passing of Phyllis Kramer
z"l, a long-time friend of and volunteer for our organization.

Others have rightly lauded her devotion to Jewish family history and genealogy,
and her efforts to help on many levels. Phyllis truly set a high mark and left
a legacy that we might all try to emulate in one way or another, to the best
of our ability.

On a personal level, I have been a witness to Phyllis' passion, intelligence
and bottomless commitment for and to the Jewish genealogical world, serving
with her on an advisory board, working on a few of her educational projects
and, of course, as a JRI-Poland town leader. I will miss the sparkle in her
eyes and those warm hugs at the annual conferences.

May the memory of Phyllis be for a blessing.

Looking for any information on the Rose/Rosa NORVICK who married Getzel
BLOCH/BLOGH (1871-1941) in 1937 (as his third wife). She was possibly the
Rose BLOCH whose death aged 75 was recorded in Uxbridge in 1944.

There was a NORVICK family in Bryn Mawr, and Getzel BLOCH was a
chazan-shochet there in his early days in Britain.

BASHERT NOW AVAILABLE NEW PAPERBACK EDITION #belarus

Andrea Simon

BASHERT NOW AVAILABLE NEW PAPERBACK EDITION

So proud to announce that the venerable Vallentine Mitchell, London publisher
of the first English language edition of Anne Frank's diary, has released
a paperback version of=A0BASHERT: A Granddaughter's Holocaust Quest,
with a Foreword by Dr. Claire Le Foll who called the book "extraordinary."

Originally published in 2002, BASHERT is still regarded as a groundbreaking
book, one of the first personal memoirs to explore Jewish roots in post-Soviet
times, the most comprehensive source
of primary and secondary material on western Belorussian life in the inter-war
period and Holocaust, and a forerunner of genealogical research. With
recent discovery at a Brest construction site of 1,214 Jewish victims
remains, and the ensuing controversy, BASHERT is even more timely and
essential, especially given the super-charged global environment of racial,
gender, and ethnic animosity.

Please share a link or announcement to your email and social media followers
and help spread the word. Reviews on Amazon, Goodreads, etc. are very much
appreciated.

POSNER from Dabrowa Tarnowska #galicia

Renee Steinig

My mother's maternal grandmother was Sara FALLEK nee SPIRO or SPIRA
(c.1860-1919). She is known to have lived in Przeryty Bor (a village
a few miles south of Radomysl Wielki) and Gawluszowice (about 9 miles
north of Mielec) and she died in Tarnow.

Sara was married to Wolf (Shimon Zev) FALLEK. Her parents, per family
sources, were Nathan and Malka.

According to a long deceased cousin whom I interviewed years ago, Sara
had a sister -- married name POSNER -- who lived in Dabrowa Tarnowska
and owned a liquor store there.

If your tree includes POSNERs >from this part of Galicia (now southeastern
Poland), I'd welcome hearing >from you.

Thanks.

Missing one generation to connect - Rabbi Chaim Lieberson of Berditchev #ukraine

Anat Avizemel <anatavizemel@...>

Trying to connect my ancestors to Rabbi Chaim Lieber, as family lore says they are his
descendents . He was a GGrandson of Rabbi Lieber HaGadol (the great) of
Berditchev and wrote three books, among those "Tzror HaChaim".

In one of his books he writes that >from six children he had, only one
daughter was left and a son in law.

Does anyone know, or has suggestions on how to find out the names of his children?

Dates:
Yaakov (Yakili) Liberson of Berditchev: 1767 ? 1796
His son: Rabi Yeshaya Liberson of Dinovitch : born probably around 1790
His son: Rabi Chaim Liberson of Berditchev,"Tzror HaChaim" : born probably around 1810
His daughter, name unknown: born probably around 1830

The following relatives claim(ed) to be his descendents:

Naftali Hertz Hailperin son of Yeshaya, born 1872 at Mezeritch Gadol - Miedzyrzeck Korecki.
Hinda Ester daughter of Beniumin Getsel Dubas, born 1872. Her birth place is not
known but the family lived in Koretz and moved to Ostroh after the big fire of 1881.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
