FOGEL #general

Hello,

My grandfather - Abraham FOGEL, was born in Podu Turcului, Romania about 1880. He
was married to Tzviya BERCOVITZ and they had 3 children : Hannah (Anutza) was born
in1906, Isaac was born in 1909, Sarah (Surica) was born in 1911.

About 1911-1912 Abraham arrived in United States and lived in Chicago.

He married again with a new wife and they had children (maybe 3).

After the First World War he returned to Romania and died. His new wife and the
children remained in United States.

When Abraham arrived to United States he was invited by my grandmother sister, her
name was Sarah BERCOVITZ.

I don't have many details about her, all I know that she arrived >from Birlad,
Romania. Maybe her last name (after marriage) was SEGAL. She lived in Chicago, and
she had two children, son and daughter. The daughter died, the son should be 60
years old. Her husband was hat maker, and he had a workshop in Chicago. Her son
have children, the older name is Jordan.

Many thanks for helping with this.

Richmond Hill Synagogue #general

beatrice swart <bswart33321@...>

Richmond Hill Synagogue and Jewish Center was on 102nd Street in Richmond Hill,
NY, which is in Queens. It was near 89th Avenue on 102nd St and was south of
Jamaica Ave. The Jewish Center was a block south of Jamaica Ave and the Synagogue
was still another block further south on 102nd St.

I believe the Synagogue still operates, but the Richmond Hill Jewish Center which
was also on 102nd St has been sold. The Synagogue , I believe is still operating.

KHRAPUN/CHARPUN=BLUMENTHAL Vilkomir Lithuania #general

,

Hi Genners,
Members of my father's extended family emigrated to NY beginning in the late
1800's. They all emigrated under the name BLUMENTHAL . However the last name used
by family members who remained in Lithuania (and were murdered during the
holocaust) was always CHARPUN (Polish spelling) or KHRAPUN (Russian spelling).
I've found information about family members >from various jewishgen resources and
census records. I'm now hoping to find someone related to the family of Benny
BLUMENTHAL.
According to the 1910 census Benny (age 32) arrived here in 1897. He had been
married at that time 3 years to Yetta (age 22) who had arrived in 1904. They had
2 children, Abie (age 1 1/2) and Hertzel( 0/12). They were living on Bushwick Ave
in Brooklyn. Also living with them at that time was Benny's sister Fanny (age 24)
who had arrived in 1907 and had just married Sam ROSEN (age 23) who had arrived
in 1906. Benny's brother Abie (age 18), newly arrived >from Lithuania ,was also
living with them.
By the 1920 census Sam and Fannie had their own apartment on Williams Ave.
Abraham Blumenthal was still single and living on Moore St in Brooklyn. Bennie
and Annie (who was Yetta in 1910) were listed in the census with their children
Abraham (age 11) and Harry (age 10). They were living on Boreum St. in Brooklyn.
I believe these addresses are all in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.
I believe that I have located the graves of Benjamin and Anna in Washington
Cemetary in Brooklyn. Sam Rosen was the treasurer of the Shatter Society and he
and Fannie are buried through that organization in Queens. Since Sam and Fannie
never had any children I am hoping that someone knows the decendents of the
Blumenthal family I have described. I have always been told that my middle name
was after my dad's aunt who never had any children of her own. Since Fannie Rosen
died 3 months before my birth I believe that she is that aunt. I'm hoping that
someone recognizes the information I have given and can connect me with this part
of my fanily.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I had a relative in Williamsburg Brooklyn using this exchange.

I believe the cross-directory in the Brooklyn Public Library would allow you to

thus you'd have EV1 1111, followed by EV1 1112, etc.]
