Dear JewishGen Community,

In the past year, JewishGen has been extremely active. We added a
unified search interface to access more than 26 million records,
implemented a host of new web features, entered into a multitude of
important partnerships (including Beit Hatfutsot, and the Miriam
Weiner/Routes to Roots Foundation), and added more than 1 million
records to our collection.

And this is just the beginning!

We are currently focused on significantly expanding our content
acquisition, unveiling a brand new website and search experience, new
web tools, new online classes, and much more!

As you can see, we are working as hard as we possibly can - but we
need your help to continue and to grow!
Please click the following link to make a contribution, and become a
true partner in JewishGen's important work today. A gift of any amount
will make a real difference.

I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving (for those celebrating in the
USA), and a (early) Happy Chanukah!

Question about Queens naturalizations #general

Mark London <mrl@...>

I have a question about a Queens County Naturalization court record, for a Morris
Hoffman. I have the 1941 naturalization papers for His wife. On it, it says that
her husband was naturalized on Nov 18, 1923 in "Long Island City", and it gives a
certificate number.

I assume this is Queens County court. Do you know if it's possible for me to order
his naturalization record using the NARA archives.gov website? The Italian
Genealogy website claims that it can be done, but I'm not so sure. And I don't
have the actual petition number.

On the Italian Genealogy site, I found a Queens petition for a Morris Hoffman, in
1923. But I'm not sure if that is the same Morris. Because thought that
naturalization certificates took a while to actually be issued, and often didn't
occur in the same year as the petition. But I could be wrong. - Thanks

Mark London

Ukraine SIG #Ukraine Resnikoff/Dickovsky offstpring. #ukraine

Milton Koch

I am researching the Dickovsky family >from Elisavetgrad, now Ukraine
(formerly Russia). I am aware of many members related to my wife, most
of whom settled in Washington, DC area.
However, I am most interested in locating any offspring of CHAJE Dickovsky,
who came to New York in the early 1900's to live with Emanuel Resnikoof
and his wife, Beatrice. They had 3 children-Sophie/Sylvia, Jack and
Eleanore (who may have changed her name to Reed >from Resnikoff).
Emanuel and Beatrice had a dressmaking shop in NYC named "Madam Beatrice".
I would appreciate any family links in the Dickovsky lineage.
Thank you.

Names of her Parents ? Was she married ? When & where was she born ?
When & where did she die ? Was she Jewish ?

Her name appears
Any information, or suggestions would be wonderful

A search on Yad Vashem reveals that a Page of Testimony was submitted
regarding a Helene Lina LOEWENHEIM nee HOFMAN.
Born in Tuchel Poland in 1878, lived in Berlin prior and during the War.

There is also a reference to a list of murdered Jews >from Germany that
includes a Lisbeth Lea Helene LOEbENHEIM, nee PHILIPSON born
in Feldberg, Germany in 1876.
She lived in Berlin prior to the war, but was deported to Theresienstadt
where she died. This person is also mentioned in the
German Minority Census 1939.

Also in the German Minority Census is a Helene LOEWENHEIM nee JANSSEN

adopted daughter? #galicia

Milton Koch

I am trying to determine the details of a family story I have heard
about my paternal grandfather, Izak Koch, >from Jagielnica.

He reportedly was married to a woman that I know nothing about.
They had a daughter named Yenta. His wife died in childbirth.
Supposedly, the daughter, Yenta, was "adopted" or taken in by Izak's
sister, Rivka Koch and her husband, Lieb Weinreb. In addition, Yenta
may have subsequently been married and gave birth to a girl.

Izak then married my paternal grandmother, Feige Barbash. I do
know that part of my family. I do not know how to track this
information about Yenta and her family, as well as the family details.

Thank you.
