Dear all,

One of my ancestors was Rabbi Jehuda LOEB (or Levi Samuel). He died
in 1696. His grave in Herford (Nordrhein-Westfalen) says: "Sohn des
Gaon, des Gelehrten Moses Samuel Zwi sel. And."

I know nothing else about this gaon, nor does Bernhard Brilling in
his article about Herford graveyard.

I am interested in any information related to Gaon Moses Samuel Zwi.

Thanks.

Menachem Butler <menachembutler@...>

Dear Rav-SIGers:

Is anyone aware of genealogical and/or historical records about
Rabbi Jacob Z. LAUTERBACH (1873-1942)? Rabbi LAUTERBACH received his
rabbinic ordination >from the Orthodox Berlin Rabbinical Seminary
(though it was later revoked) and was later a professor at Hebrew
Union College in Cincinnati, and also the chairman of the Responsa
Committee for the CCAR (Reform) for nearly two decades.

I have checked the basic books [in English] relevant to Berlin
Orthodoxy of the late 19th and early 20th century and I have been
unable to find any substantial relevant information about him.

Any thoughts?

Need Help Finding Ship Manifest #general

Bridget Wynne <rabbiwynne@...>

Hello:

I've found a relative of mine's ship passenger record on the Ellis Island
Database, but I cannot find the scanned manifest for him, using the EIDB or
the Morse One-Step web pages. Can anyone else help me find the manifest?

He is listed as Mc Turket, immigrating to the U.S. on the New York, sailing
from Southampton to New York, arriving April 19, 1897, 27 years old, with
his last residence being Russia. His Ellis Island Passenger ID number is
103034170532.

Now I want to see the manifest itself and get the rest of the story on him!

Thanks and Chag Sameach/Happy Passover,

Yiddish theater - Children without a home #general

nitram <martin@...>

In about 1943 my mother-in-law was in a yiddish play at the Lincoln
Theater in Philadelphia. She played one of the twins in a play by
Louis Frieman called Children Without A Home or Kinder On a Heym. She
has very fond memories of those days and I would love to find the
script or some of the songs such as Feygele Un Khanele; Author Isador
Lillian, Composer Ilya Triling.

Any advise on where to find this.

Thank you
