Jews in China #galicia

Palekaiko

I read with interest the article about Jews in China ([jri-pl]
Index of Citizen Registration Book >from the Polish Consulate in
Shanghai, China Now Online) posted by Mark Halpern
(http://www.jri-poland.org). There are several references that
have various bits of information.

I was looking for my second cousin, Fred Fleischman and his
parents, Regina and Walter Fleischmann who left Shanghai in 1939
for San Francisco. Yet their names did not appear on any of the
databases.

Does anyone have any ideas as to where I might look next?

Michael Diamant
Respond privately palekaiko@gmail.com

MODERATOR NOTE: Mark Halpern's Feb. 12, 2010 messages to the
JRI-Poland mailing list and to the JewishGen Discussion Group
announced that entries for 918 Polish Jewish refugees in
Shanghai have been added to the JRI-Poland.org database. Included
are <<all Jews who visited the Polish Consulate in Shanghai >from
1934 through 1941.>> More information is at
<http://www.jri-poland.org/china/shanghai_polish_consular_records.htm>;

Can anyone recommend any accounts of the experiences of the Jewish passengers in the
steerage class crossing the Atlantic somewhere around 1905? My family went >from
Liverpool to Halifax in January 1905.
Thanks,

Re: Http://fultonhistory.com

Many thanks to David Harris for suggesting this site. I found a treasure trove
of information, more than 300 articles, on my great-aunt Josephine Victor who
performed on Broadway during the early part of the 1900's.Her real name was
Josephina (Josephine, Josie or, possibly Pepi) GUNCZLER (GINCZLER, GINZLER).
Her married name was REID. She was born in ERDOBENYE, HUNGARY.

passenger lists of those that went back #galicia

Re the passenger lists of those that went back.

I was led to understand some time ago that the shipping lines
that still exist may still have records of those passengers that
left the USA to go back to Europe.
