Good evening,
My name is Carin Miller and a few months ago I wrote that I was researching
my parents' families. Some time has gone by so I thought I'd
try again with the hope that I would find a group of new readers.

My mother's maiden name was Joyce Ros(z)enberg and her family came
from Piotrkow. My greatgrandfather was named Abram(Abraham). He was born
in 1868 and came through Ellis Island in 1905. My Grandfather David was born
around 1894 and came through Ellis Island in 1906. My great grandmother,
Esther, came in 1907 came with their 5 other children. Their English names
were Sam, Frank, Howard, Rose and Pauline.
They were tailors and dress contractors.

My father's family, the Schupaks, were >from the Warsaw area. My great
grandfather was named Charles and the family came through Ellis Island in
the early 1900s. Charles had 3 sons, Harry, Philip and David, and a daughter
named Rose. My grandfather was Harry and he was married to Kate Younker. The
family were carpenters in Poland and owned a lumberyard, Blue Bell Lumber, in
Washington Heights.

Red or reddish hair was a trait that seemed to pop up in the family.
If anyone who hasn't already responded has any information please
contact me. I would love to hear >from you. Thank you and
Shalom

Looking for methods for cost effective self publishing #germany

Ellen Lukas Kahn

Hello,

I am a member of Jewish Gen and have been researching our ancestors
and saving old documents and photos for over 40 years. I am in the
midst of trying to put together a Family History Book of our family
and ancestors, and am looking for recommendations as how to be cost
effective in publishing this book.

I am a senior citizen (81) living on social security. As of now, my
goal is to print limited numbers and distribute it only to children
and relatives since I cannot afford to pay the price of having it
published professionally.

My research information is compiled on Brothers Keeper and some is on
Family Tree Maker. Since all of our ancestors were born and lived in
Germany until the 1930s, I have traveled there three times and have
been able to obtain copies of many old documents, as well as photographs
saved by our parents and grandparents.

I would appreciate any suggestions for proven methods of reasonably
priced self-publishing, which would enable me to include selected
photos, documents, maps, as well as Ancestral and Descendant charts.

1848 Hungarian census #hungary

davidmdubin@...

Hi all,

Radovan Sremac asked about the original Hungarian Jewish census from
1848, and the moderator replied "Radovan may not be aware that the
Hungarian State Archives in Budapest keep many, but by no means all,
records >from the 1848 Conscriptio Judaeorum" and that some other
records have been found elsewhere.
However, the Jewish Gen website claims the records >from Poszony Megye
(Bratislava District) are in the "Hungarian National Archives Film
43504," BUT the Hungarian National Archives denies they have them.
Does anyone know where they are & how to get at them?
Thanks again.

Tracing European Ancestral Roots Topic for Jewish Genealogy Society of
Cleveland April Meeting
Several members of the Jewish Genealogy Society of Cleveland will share
their journeys to ancestral villages in Europe as part of a panel discussion
at the Wednesday, April 3 meeting of the JGSC in the Miller Board Room at
Menorah Park, Beachwood. Helen and Paul Wolf, Muriel Weber, Anne Lukas and
Henny Lukas Fierman will reveal twists and turns in the road that led them
to some amazing discoveries--not to mention a few surprises while they were
visiting Eastern Europe in conjunction with last year's International
Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies (IAJGS) conference held in
Warsaw, Poland. All five individuals have gone to great lengths to trace
their families' ancestral roots and identify unknown, missing and lost
relatives over many years, if not decades. Meetings of the Jewish Genealogy
Society of Cleveland return to Wednesday evenings starting at 7:30 P.M. at
Menorah Park, 27100 Cedar Road, beginning in April. Board members are
available at the Help Desk >from 7:00 P.M. to assist with individual research
questions. Guests are welcome. RSVP to Programming@ClevelandJGS.org.

Re: Access to Romanian records #romania

Sorin Goldenberg <soring0412@...>

Dexter,

If you read my reply to the original email - everyone can go to the
archives and research civil state records (BMDs) older than 100 years.
There's nothing new.

The internal security organizations archives are also accessible - one
needs to apply for a permit.

Cemetery ledgers are not at the Romanian archives.

I don't know about police reports - but I am not sure they were preserved.

Falticeni is not in the Republic of Moldova but in historical region
of Moldova in Romania - it belongs to Suceava county.
Our Botosani research team has acquired and indexed the available
records - 1865 - 1895 only. You're invited to join our Facebook
group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1465078043774333/?ref=bookmarks.
