Re: Wife of Isaac KLAUBER (grandmother of MaHaRaL of Prague) #rabbinic

Moishe Miller

Dear group,

I received some comments about a conflict between Isaac KLAUBER being
the grandfather of the MaHaRaL (of Prague) or the MaHaRSHaL.

The Jewish Encyclopedia >from 1906 states about the father of Judah Low
(Lob, Liwa) ben Bezaleel (aka The MaHaRaL of Prague) that
"Bezaleel ben Hayyim ... His father was the ... brother-in-law of
Isaac KLAUBER of Posen, whose grandson was Solomon Luria (aka The
MaHaRSHaL)"
See:
http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/articles/9009-judah-low-lob-liwa-ben-bezaleel

That would seem to make the MaHaRaL (of Prague) and the MaHaRSHaL
first-cousins once removed and make Isaac KLAUBER the uncle of the
MaHaRaL (of Prague) and the grandfather of the MaHaRSHaL.

So, allow me to re-ask my question:
Does anyone know who was the wife (or wives) of Isaac KLAUBER
and who was the mother-in-law(s) of Isaac KLAUBER

Does anyone know of source material for the wife and also for the
mother-in-law for Isaac KLAUBER (grandmother of MaHaRaL of Prague)?

Is there anything to suggest she descends >from R' Bezalel LOWEY, who was
father to the MaHaRaL of Prague?

Initial results #dna

Jan Rabinowitz <janrab@...>

Hello - my husband just received his results >from the 23andme
project, which he was able to join because he has Parkinson's
Disease. I have several questions:

1. How do we go about transferring these results to FamilyTreeDNA?
2. Is there a way to find out more just by knowing his maternal
and paternal haplogroups?
3. Is there a way to see whether his haplogroups have ever been
discussed in this group?

Thanks so much for your help!

Look-up for 1914 birth certificate? #unitedkingdom

Sandy Crystall

Hello-
I recently found that a BMD record for a Casriel Sherman who was born
in Jan-March 1914 in Marylebone (Volume 1a, page 1002). Mother's
maiden name was Kellas.

I am unfamiliar with access to UK records. Would anyone be able to
look up the birthdate, address and father's name? My gg grandfather
Kasriel Sherman died in the U.S. in 1913, and I am wondering if this
child was named for his late grandfather. I understand that at least
one Sherman son did not immigrate to the U.S. (originally from
Lithuania). I am hoping that by providing the father's name this
record will help add to the family information.

Please let me know if you can help or if I need to formally order the
document to get this information.

Thank you very much,

Sandy Crystall
