My relative supposedly wrote for the stage.
Are there any writer specific sources out there?
I have exhausted the actors and general materials.

However, identification of resources regarding authors for the theater may
be useful for other researchers.

Have you tried searching JRI Poland and the shtetlseeker on Jewishgen.
Those are two great sources for finding towns.

MODERATOR NOTE. This thread is now wondering off topic for JCR-UK which is
for research into Jewish Communities and Records within the UK.

My husband has been given the name of a village outside Warsaw in Poland.
This cannot be the right spelling as the village was called Mogalids. That
is the only spelling his cousin Hymie knows. He is trying to trace Segal
family. His grandfather Simon Segal was born in this village. He is
believed to have come to the U.K. to live at the end of the 19th century.
<snip>
Can someone please make sense of the village name. Or does anyone
know
of any decendants of the above.
Thank you all so much.

from the Ukraine? How do you know they came to South Africa? When did they
come? Were they perhaps part of the Ochberg Orphans group >from the Ukraine?

Re: Naturalization #general

Ann Rabinowitz <annrab@...>

In response to Milton Botwinick's inquiry about how to obtain SA
naturalizations, I suggest the following:

1. Determine when your ancestor might have come to SA and the possible
period then when naturalization might have occurred.

2. If the time period was during 1903-1907, the SA SIG web site has a
database I prepared for some 999 naturalizations in the Cape Colony,
http://www.jewishgen.org/SAfrica/natrec.htm .

It also can be found in the SA Jewish Rootsbank database,
http://grub.its.uct.ac.za/cgi/cgi_RootWeb.exe?entry_point=Home .

3. You can look up your ancestor in the SA National Archives daabase and
see if their naturalization record or even their immigration papers are
contained there,
http://www.national.archsrch.gov.za/sm300cv/smws/sm300gi?200509030821427D6D0162%26DB%3DRSAE.

4. You can go to the SA SIG web site, http://www.jewishgen.org/SAfrica,
and look up how to order naturalizations, and also go to the JewishGen
InfoFile on South Africa prepared by Dr. Saul Issroff at
http://www.jewishgen.org/infofiles/za-infoa.txt or
http://www.jewishgen.org/infofiles/za-infob.txt which will provide the
address of the Archives.

5. You can also lookup applications for naturalizations for the Cape Colony
to be found in the Mormon Family History Center's South African microfilms,
also discussed by Roy Ogus for the period 1883-1911on the SA SIG web site,
http://www.jewishgen.org/SAfrica/mormon-fhc/mormon.htm. Other materials
relating to naturalization are also to be found there.

Memorial pages - Dabrowa Gornicza #general

Lance Ackerfeld <ackerfeld@...>

Dear Dabrowa Gornicza Researchers,

I am honored to be able to announce that the 85 pages of memorial pages from
the Dabrowa Gornicza Yizkor Book are now online in the JewishGen Yizkor Book
Project. These pages include a myriad of photographs and names that
immortalize members of families who died in the Holocaust whilst also
providing important details for the researcher about these same families.

This project took quite a time before it saw the light of day and most of
the credit for these impressive pages must be given to Osnat Ramaty who
burned large quantities of midnight oil in keeping the format of these pages
as close as possible to the original. My thanks also go out to Ricky Benhart
who graciously volunteered to help translate the Yiddish dedications within
this section.

The index for these pages can be found at:

http://www.jewishgen.org/Yizkor/Dabrowa/Dabnec.html

And the main page for the Dabrowa Gornicza Yizkor Book at:

http://www.jewishgen.org/Yizkor/Dabrowa/Dabrowa.html
