Koller in Zawiercie Ghetto #poland

Dear Genners!
About a month ago I got an email >from the historian Dr.
Christian Schölzel who is helping the Koller Family
from Germany to research a story on a family member who
was in Zawiercie Ghetto. This member of
the Koller family was a handcraft-painter and was
managing the production of packaging material for
shoe-polish. He was the subject of discussion
concerning his behavior with fellow employees.

If you have any information about this guy please let
me know.ruth@wilnai.com
Thanks,

Ruthie Wilnai

Viewmate translation from Polish required #belarus

Merv & Naomi Barnett

I am looking for some assistance in translating the marriage document
listed in the two Viewmate files below. The document was A3 in size and
hence I've done it in two A4 scans as I don't have an A3 scanner.

The document relates, I believe, to my husband's ggrandfather's sister
and I would appreciate as much information as possible.

If you aren't able to read the first one clearly I may be able to send
you directly a better scan.

I also realise there is some Hebrew writing at the bottom right hand
corner of the 2nd page. I will scan this separately at a later date and
post a message on this list regarding translation.

Any assistance gratefully appreciated.

Meeting in Copenhagen 26. February 2008 #scandinavia

Elsebeth Paikin

Dear Scandinavia-genners,

The following announcement of the meeting will be in Danish/Swedish,
because the presentation will be in Swedish and therefore not of
interest for those who do not understand Swedish/Danish:

Tirsdag den 26. feb. 2008 kl. 19:30

Gunnar Ståhl, Stockholm, vil fortælle om

"Judisk bosättning i Sverige 1774-1838 - "Judereglementets tid"
***************************************************************

Sverige. Flere jøder fulgte efter hovedsageligt fra nordtyskland. I

perioden 1830-1860, som nok kan have interesse for jødiske
slægtsforskere i Skandinavien.

Fotografierne
vil blive gjort tilgængelige gennem "G-gruppen".

Mødested: Danasvej 30 B, Frederiksberg, foredragssalen
Deltagergebyr: Medlemmer 20 kr. - Gæster 40 kr.
Tilmelding: jgsdenmark@gmail.com eller tlf. 39 27 24 33

Re: Mormons Lviv microfilms #galicia

Mark Halpern <willie46@...>

Yes, the LDS microfilms of the Jewish holdings of the Ukraine State
Historical Archive in Lviv is reported to include the following
Brody vital records:
Births: 1815-71
Marriages: 1815-26, 1829-61
Deaths: 1815-71

A number of fellow Galician researchers have rented other films >from
this "Lviv" collection and have found that the inventories available
from the LDS are incorrect. The most glaring example of this has
been reported in this forum. Mark Jacobson recently reported that
films #2405338 and #2405339 were identified by LDS to include Sambor
birth and death records, when the films actually include Drohobycz
birth and death records.

Therefore, Gesher Galicia and JRI-Poland are working together to
develop an accurate inventory of the LDS Lviv Jewish collection as
an aid to Galician researchers.

If you have rented one of these microfilms or plan to rent one, you
can help our efforts by agreeing to inventory the contents of the
film. This inventory will provide a list of the contents of the film
by town, by type of record (birth, marriage, death), and by year.
Please contact me at mark@halpern.com if you are willing to help.

As for Brody, the above records are contained in films #2405310
through #2405315. Volunteers are needed to create inventories for
these films.

A summary by town of the LDS inventory (not corrected) can be found
at www.jri-poland.org/agad/lviv.htm.

An interesting article in the Jerusalem Post about a project of the
Famillion company which is trying to build a giant digital family
tree that will eventually link every Jew, their non-Jewish relatives
and - if things go as planned - all of humanity. They have two sites,
one in English, the other in Hebrew. The English one is a beta site
and the short time I was on it I had some problems. However, it may
well be worth visiting.

Jean Bisseliches <jean@...>

Concerning the Mormons microfilms in Brody, I am presently in the
process of searching for all possible information on the
BISSELICHES family. I already went through 3 of the 7 announced
related micofilms. An informal inventory of their content is
available on request.

Although I found out some 58 entries concerning my family, I am not
sure how to interpret some columns of information. I was also
surprised by the abnormally small number of weddings reported. Help
would be welcome, as well as exchanges with other people interested
in this family.
