Dear Fellow Researchers,

I am very pleased to announce that indices to 5,890 records city of Lodz
birth, marriage and death records >from the year 1901 have been added to the
JRI-Poland database. This brings to 16,766 the number of indices now online
as part of the Lodz "Seven-Year Initiative" of JRI-Poland. To search these
indices, access the JRI-Poland database >from the home page at

from 1899 through 1905. With today's addition, this brings to 85,225 the
total number of all indices online for the city of Lodz.

You will be able to obtain copies of the records by simply printing out the
order form on the JRI-Poland web site and mailing it to the Polish State
Archives branch in Lodz.

We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to all those who have been so
supportive of this project. I would also like to particularly thank
JRI-Poland's Sheila Salo, Michael Tobias, and Stanley Diamond for their
invaluable assistance and guidance.

<I will be very happy to enter the 1832 Taryffa Domow. However I looked at
it at the Bibliotheque Polonaise in Paris several years ago, and noticed
very few jewish names. Is is also useful for the hypoteka-street numbers
correspondance as are the later books ?>

There are fewer Jewish Names than the later years but I found my family
there anyway. The interesting thing is that they listed someone who has
been dead for 17 years by that time. Perhaps they listed him since he was
the original owner? There is a notation to list that it is the heirs of
the person but I don't see it under him. It is also fun to see that I had
family living on the same block in 1832 while they don't cross branches in
my family tree till 40 years later.

Of course, Nicole is correct in that the book is useful for the
hypoteka-street number and district.
