1897 All-Russia Census #belarus

Michael Kaplan <Michael-kaplan@...>

I have been hearing about the existence of the 1897 All-Russian Census for
some time but I do not know how to access it. If I were to go to the Mormon
data base, where would I look for specific shtetyls?

Re: INTRO- Seek Eugenia BOSSAK b. 1890 m. Markus GRUNWALD >Berlin 1920 #germany

Fritz Neubauer

Antoine Djikpa Paris, France p.compoint@add-genealogie.com asked:
I'm looking for the children of Eugenia BOSSAK (born at Konin, Poland in
1890) and Markus GRUNWALD. They married at Poznan ( Poland) in 1920 and
they left Poland to Berlin (Germany). I need to know if they had children
alive today. It's a very important file or me.=====> My comment:

Dear Antoine,
the Berlin Memorial Book contains data about a
BOSSACK, Olga born 20 Nov 1888 in Bromberg, district of Poznan,
last address in Berlin, district of Charlottenburg, Mommsenstr. 53/54,
she committed suicide on 15 Nov 1941
Could she be a sister of Eugenia BOSSACK?

With kind regards Fritz Neubauer, North Germany

Subject: [warszawa] Views of Old Warsaw

For those who may be seeking photographs of buildings in pre-WWII Warsaw
associated with their families, there is more good news:

In addition to the two websites we have already heard of here - namely ...

The "Architecture of Pre-War Warsaw" website at

http://www.warszawa1939.pl/index.php

and ...

The website of old postcard views of Warsaw at

http://www.stalus.iq.pl/show.php

... Ryszard (at the "Architecture of Pre-War Warsaw" website) has just told
me about another online collection of old postcard views. This one is
called "Old Warsaw", and it can be found at

http://www.studiop2.pl/sw/index.html

One thing that sets this well-designed website apart is that, for each view,
a small map shows exactly where, and which way, the camera would have been
pointed to take that shot. Click on "Mapa", and select the area of the city
that interests you. Click on "Biegiem" for a whole collection of views of
Marszalkowska Street, keyed to two maps that cover the full length of the
street.

Viewmate-Polish/German translation Galician birth record #general

Denise Azbill <famaz1@...>

Dear Genners,

On http://data.jewishgen.org/ViewMate/ALL/viewmateview.asp?key=3093, I
have posted a Galician birth record. This entry is for the name of the
mother and her parents. On the first line, I can read, "Chana
Goldschach", on the second line can read "Menashe", and on the third
line "Ruchel Goldschach".

Would someone kindly take a look at the second handwritten line to see
what comes before "Menashe"? Several Genners have written to tell me they
think this is in German, not Polish.

Thanks very much!

Sincerely,
Denise Azbill
