Seeking Alexandra [Sasha] POCK (POK) EGER #general

RICHARD FRIEDMAN

Hi Genners,
I am seeking information on my great aunt Alexandra/Sasha who lived in
Globokie, Lithuania, now Belarus. She was born around 1907. Her father
was Eliezer/Lazer Baer POCK/POK. Her mother was Batia/Basha. Sometime
before WWII she married a man I believe whose last name was EGER. He
helped her get into Palestine. They later divorced and in 1941 she
married Uri ADAR, a doctor who lived in Tel Aviv. They had two children.

I am seeking any information about how, when she entered Palestine and
about her early life there.

Any assistance or advice you can provide is greatly appreciated,Thanks
for your help.

1937-1941 Immigration Visa files #general

Jim Bennett

My wife's aunts, uncles and cousins lived in Nowogrudok between the world
wars. The town was in NE Poland during this time. In the years 1937-1941
They made strenuous efforts - aided by close relatives in the U.S. willing to
sponsor them -- to obtain immigration visas, even reducing their request to
simply allow the children to immigrate.

We made some inquiries attempting to locate the files on this case, at the
National Archives, but never got anywhere. We assume that the U.S. consulate
in Warsaw was the place where application was made. We never got anywhere
with our research.

So we would be grateful to hear >from others who have succeeded to obtaining
such files about how to proceed.

Frima Huberman #ukraine

Leonard Kranser <kranser@...>

We just received an old family photo with the members labeled on the back by
someone as second marriage wife Frima Huberman, husband Herschel and
children Dora, Leika, Ida and Abe. The notation says that Ideber, Rifka,
Sonya and my grandmother Menya are not in the photo. The photo was probably
taken around 1900 in the Ukraine.

Herschel Huberman corresponds to the name Harry Huberman (or Guberman) which
is the name that I have heard applied to my great grandfather. I heard that
my great grandmother's name was Fanny. Could Frima in the photo be another
name for Fanny?

It is curious that the family went to a photographer's studio and left out
several of the children who were alive at the time. Does anyone have an
explanation?

Looking for descendants of Jozsef and Vera/Veri (STEINER) GOLDSTEIN, who
were married in Szilagynagyfalu, Hungary (now Nusfalau, Romania) in August
of 1878. I have just discovered this marriage, Veri appears to be a
previously unknown sister of my GGM Roza (STEINER) GROSS.

Perhaps related, there is a Page of Testimony for a Shmuel GOLDSHTEIN, son

Olivier asked a number of questions about several archives and not just
questions on the records for the city of Warszawa, which was the original
purpose for this Research Group.

The addresses for all of the individual archives can be found on the Polish
State Archives Website. Here is the link
http://www.archiwa.gov.pl/en/state-archives/381-list-of-archives.html You
can email the individual archives to obtain copies.

Many of the Warszawa City Fond 200 records are available online.
JRI-Poland has begun to link the images to the JRI-Poland results and with
the soon to be announced database update which will occur at the time of the
IAJGS Conference in Jerusalem, many additional Warszawa City results will
be linked to images on the National Digital Archives website. In the
meanwhile Fond 200 images can be located at

http://szukajwarchiwach.pl/72/200/0/?q=XARCHro:72+XTYPEro:zesp&order=syg_ord
er&wynik=42&rpp=15&page=3#tabZespol

When you search the database (either Jewishgen's All Poland database or
JRI-Poland) and get a result for Nasz Przeglad, if you scroll to the bottom
you will get a link to the information on that database. It can be found
at http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/Poland/NaszPrzeglad.htm On this
website, it contains information on Libraries which have copies of the
Journal. There are some digital copies on http://polona.pl I have not
explored the site fully yet
