r-hopper@...

Hi all,

I have designed 24 covers for the Yizkor Book Project and have them all uploaded into a gallery on my personal website. To see my covers, please go here: Yizkor-Book-Covershttps://www.rkhphotography.net/Yizkor-Book-Covers/

Thanks.

Re: Yizkor Book

r-hopper@...

Hi all,

It looks to me like a "topic" is simply a new thread of discussion created by a member, rather than a "Forum" where all messages about a particular subject would be housed. I am not sure if this application gives the admins the ability to create forums but if it does, then "Yizkor Books" should be a Forum (rather than a topic) where users can send messages related to that subject but not necessarily have to respond to the person that sent the original message.

In the present state, it looks to me like all one can do is respond to the individual post from the person that created a topic. So in this particular case, Binny posted a topic about Yizkor Books and all we can can do as users is to respond to it as if we were in a discussion We do not have the ability to create another topic within Binny's topic. If I want to create my own topic on Yizkor books it will become a new thread.

So, I would ask the moderators/admins to look at the structure of this application to see if "Forums" can be created where all threads of discussion about a particular subject would be housed.

Here is an example of a Discussion Group Application that allows the admins to create forums: https://www.jitbit.com/asp-net-forum/

Hopefully this makes sense!

research question re Margaret Emmeline Montgomery 1901- #austria-czech

Helen Epstein

Dear All:

I am please to announce that FRANCI'S WAR , a memoir that my mother
Franci Rabinek-Solar-Epstein wrote in the 1970s will be published in
Slovakia, Czechia, and U.S. next spring 2020. I am now trying to find
htos and bios of all the people she mentions and one is Margaret
Emmeline Montgomery, a female officer with the british Army who
liberated Belsen in 1945. My mother knew her at the British HQ in
Celle.

Thos of you in the UK, do you know any military historian who might be
able to help me locate her data or someone at the Imperial War Museum?
Thanks in advance .

South Carolina Luryea family--Jewish? #general

Jules Levin

Fellow genners: I've been reading Mary Boykin's Civil War diary for
research purposes, and came across this passage:

Albert Luryea was killed in the battle of June 1st. Last summer when a
bomb fell in the very thick of his company he picked it up and threw it
into the water. Think of that, those of ye who love life! The company
sent the bomb to his father. Inscribed on it were the words, "Albert
Luryea, bravest where all are brave."

Boykin elsewhere mentions friendships with "Hebrew" families, but here
only the name and an alternate name Moses is mentioned. (Perhaps his
Hebrew name was Moshe?) I got nowhere via google, and would appreciate
any info...

Trying to make contact with descendants of Aron LIMONCHIK in Israel #general

Jeffrey Knisbacher

In the late 90s or early 2000s I received two undated letters in Russian
from Aron LIMONCHIK, b. 1924 in Kamenets Podolsk, Russia (now Ukraine)
then living with his wife Polina in Rishon le Tsion, Israel. He had two
daughters, Sonia and Luda. The family made aliya in 1980 >from Lvov. Aron
provided the first names of his daughters' husbands, but not their
surnames, and then we lost touch.

Sonia was married to Leonid >from Kishinev; Luda was married to Alexander
from Lvov. The daughters had four children between them, two each, one
girl and three boys:

Maytal, the girl is 12; Ilan is 12, Yaniv is 7, Eitan is 6.

We have an active LIMONCHIK family group on line and would like to share
information about this very large family >from Ukraine.

Jeff Knisbacher,
77, Baltimore, Maryland and Bradenton, FL, USA.
I read and speak Hebrew as well as reading Russian. Please get in touch!

ViewMate Translation Reguest - WEISENGOLC of Przasnysz - translation from Russian #general

SCHWAB

My Weisengolc family, born in Przasnysz, lived in U.S. under the name of
Finkelstein, a family puzzle I've been trying to solve.

I want to learn the parents of this Szyia Giler Wajsengolc to determine if he
is >from same family. His wife, Ruchla Laia Glowacz is likely the Ruchli
Weisengolz who immigrated here with her children bound for husband Joseph
Finkelstein in New York.

I don't need a full translation, but I would like to know all related names and
locations, if possible.

I've posted the marriage record for which I need a translation. I am not sure
if it is in Polish or Russian, It is on ViewMate at the following address ...

we've been acquiring for years, and working on translating. We have well
over 600,000 pages of records still not translated. Thanks to the hard
work of project managers and their teams of volunteer and paid

handwritten pages of documents is indeed daunting and there is no easy
way to tackle the translations and do them accurately for inclusion in
the JewishGen databases.

If you are not yet volunteering for a project or to manage a project,
now is a good time to step up to the plate and let incoming Ukraine SIG
