Hello Brooke,

As a retired attorney who spent much of his career working with tax exempt organizations, I would like to point out the the correct citation is §501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986.  That designation was put in place in or a bit after 1918 and remains the same to this day except that the date of the Code has been revised whenever there has been a major revision.  That designation was certainly used in the Internal Revenue Code of 1939.

Sincerely,
Edward David Luft

Re: who are or where is Bialostoker #poland

Debbie Lifshitz

Shalom,
I have been following this thread for a while and fail to understand the point of the question:
If the reference is to a person, it is likely to differentiate him/her from others, and is a point of reference for purposes of identification: e.g.. "The Bialystoker came to visit last night"
If it is in reference to an institution, it may refer to the  NYC Landmark  known as the Bialistoker Synagogue at 7 -11 Bialystoker Place (previously 7 Willett Street) on the Lower East Side, it was a very well known synagogue, is restored (1988), operative and there is information and photos on-line, including a Wikipedia article.
As a word, Bialystoker means of or from Bialystok, a city in North-East Poland .
In order to be of further assistance, context is important.

ZOLDAN-WEISS, Satmar Rebbe, R. Yoel Teitlebaum, Yismach Moshe

David Zoldan

Subject – ZOLDAN-WEISS, Satmar Rebbe, R. Yoel Teitlebaum, Yismach Moshe

Hi,

My relative is Yaakov Shmuel Zoldan (circa 1850-60 until 1920).

He married Hendel Weiss who was known to be a “cousin” of the Satmar Rebbe, Rabbi Yoel Teitlebaum.

I have been researching together with some cousins who are descendants of Hendel Weiss Zoldan. We believe the connection can be traced back to the ancestor of Rabbi Yoel Teitlebaum who was named Tzvi Hirsch (Schiff) Teitlebaum.

From Tzvi Hirsh’s first wife was born a son named Rabbi Moshe Teitlebaum, well known as the “Yismach Moshe”

From Tzvi Hirsh’s second wife was a daughter named Sara who married Menachem Weiss. We believe it is likely that these are the grandparents or great grandparents of Hendel Weiss Zoldan.

Sara and Menachem Weiss had a son Efraim Weiss born 1812 and a son Herman Armin (Tzvi) as well as an additional child. We believe our Hendel Weiss Zoldan is likely a daughter (or granddaughter) of either Efraim Weiss or Herman Armin Tzvi Weiss or another unknown brother.

Does anybody have any additional information or any idea where to turn to regarding this Weiss family. We believe we have exhausted the well-known genealogy sites.

Thank you in advance for any lead or information,

David Zoldan
