I have two items to post regarding Polonne, Volhynia, Ukraine. One is
an essay written by my aunt about her mother's early life in Polonne.
The other is a diary with images of my visit to Polonne last year.

Please tell me how I can post these two items to the Ukraine SIG.

I am addressing you by your first name because I believe we have met on a
number of occasions. My family (my grandfather was David Kitaigorodsky) has

I was shocked and dismayed to learn of Christine's apparently sudden demise.
She was a very special and gifted person. The Jewish genealogy community
won't be the same without her, especially those of us with roots in Latvia.
Thanks to Christine, I found many of my relatives and my wife's relatives
in Dvinsk, Rezekne, Vishki, Kreslava and elsewhere.

What's to become of all her wonderful translations?
When her websites go down, won't all of her work just disappear?

Hello-
I am looking for descendants of this SHERMAN family that lived in St.
Marylebone in 1911 and at least shortly thereafter.

In 1902, Abraham SHERMAN married Milly KELESKIE in Whitechapel,
London. Between the years 1903 and 1915, sons Jack, Sam, Reuben, Casriel,
and Bernard were born. (I have the 1911 census that includes Abraham and
Milly and sons Jack and Sam).

Jack immigrated to the U.S. c. 1924 and may have ended up in Los Angeles,
California. (I am working on locating records for him and any descendants.)
I have no additional information on the other brothers and I am not sure what
more recent information is available (in the UK).

Going backward in time, Abraham was one of 11 siblings and is listed in a
1908 Lithuania Revision list as "Iosel Abraham" (in Pasvalys), even though
most if not all of the siblings were no longer in Lithuania at the time.
Many of the siblings had immigrated to London.

It may be that Abraham was the only one who remained there. The parents were
in Europe until a couple of years later, at which time they immigrated to
Baltimore, Maryland, where most of their children were living (after
immigrating >from London).

If this family is familiar to you, or you have suggestions about other more
recent sources of information in the UK, I would appreciate hearing >from you.

Thank you very much!
