New Warsaw Cemetery Data #rabbinic

hadassahlipsius

Last week, Jewish Records Indexing-Poland added to our searchable
database information on an additional 7,400 burials >from the Warsaw
Jewish Cemetery.

(This information is >from the file also known as Warsaw Cemetery
Database "C").

The historic Warsaw Jewish Cemetery on Okopowa Street has been in
continuous use since late in the 18th century and contains an
estimated 250,000 individual graves as well as mass graves of
thousands of residents of the Warsaw Ghetto. While most of the
gravestones have survived, the cemetery burial records were
destroyed by Nazi forces during the WW II occupation of Warsaw.

Starting in October 2003, Przemyslaw Isroel Szpilman, the new
Cemetery Manager, commenced an aggressive project with a goal of
documenting all the gravestones and their locations in the shortest
possible time. Using a digital camera provided by JRI-Poland, work
has proceeded at a brisk pace and with the recent update to the
JRI-Poland database we now have over 41,000 burials listed.
Information on this database and how to obtain photographs of
tombstones can be found at the following link

http://www.jri-poland.org/cemetery/warsaw_beisolam.htm

The Warsaw Cemetery also has a new website with a surname searchable
database that is complementary to the JRI-Poland database. The
search results sometimes include the photograph of the tombstone.
The url for their new website is http://www.cemetery.jewish.org.pl/

Of interest to subscribers to Rav-SIG is the information on the
Matzevot and Ohelim of the following rabbanim. All spellings use
the Polish version

PESACH / PEISACH Family #general

Ann Rabinowitz <annrab@...>

Does anyone know how to contact either Max PESACH / PEISACH specifically or
his descendants?

The family was originally >from Lithuania and then settled in South Africa.
Some then went to Israel. They are also related to the DWORETZ family.

I don't require historical data, but a contact with the actual family, preferrably
an e-mail address. I had an e-mail address, at one time, but have subsequently
lost it over the years.

Thanks for any assistance.

The net edition of the Viennese daily "Der Standard" reports in todays
(July 8) net edition that staff and marines >from the American embassy in

Pinchos of Kolk

Kolk is presumably Kolky (51deg 06' N, 25deg 40' E) in Volhynia (now
part of Ukraine), about 30 miles NE of Horochiv and 27 NW of Olyk. It
is about 45 miles E of Ustila (Ustilug).

(Alfasi considers these to be the same person.)

R" Zeiv Wolf of Zhitomir died in 5557 (1797). R' Hersh Leyb of Olyk
died in 5572 (1811).
R' Pinchos of Kolk was R' Zeiv Wolf's son >from his second marriage

R' Pinchos had a daughter Reyzl, who married R' Aharon MALOVITZKI
(Lakhovitsher Rebbe) who died in 5641 (1881).

R' Pinchos KATZENELNBOGEN of Ustila, grandson-in-law of R' Pinchos of
Kolk was the father-in-law of Devora PERLOW (daughter of the
Koidanover Rebbe Shlomo Chayim PERLOW 5557-5622, and a second cousin
of R' Aharon MALOVITZKI, who married her great-aunt)

I guess that R' Sendr Shmuel of Horochov was much older than his
