Dear Genners,
As a project coordinator for several Yiskor books, please take time to read about
your shtetl and those in the surrounding region. YOu might be very surprised to
find information regarding family and relations which you can't obtain just by
looking for archival dates! Remember, broaden your search, one member could be in
1 shtetl, some in another. UNderstanding the history of the First World War, which
created a lot of movement, might also shed light to your research. the shtetl you
were so focused on, suddenly, shifts to another shtetl.
I hope this is helpful and I am always looking for more translators or donations to
whichever YB that interests you

LAZAROFF family-New Haven-19th Cent. #general

My great greatgrandmother , Gittle ABRAMOWITZ , immigrated >from Eastern Europe via
Liverpool in the second half of the 19th cent. She was a widow with 4 young
children. In some source, which I don't remember today I read that she remarried a
LAZAROFF in New Haven. She seems also to have been a silversmith or some similar
profession.

On this forum I learned several years ago that there was (is) a LAZAROFF family in
New Haven who were(are) Jewellers.

Are thereany New Haven LAZAROFFs on this forum who know there family history who
can confirm the above story regarding my ancestress's marriage into their family?

The End of The Road of Research #general

David Goldman

Hello, Jewishgenners. I am sure I am not the only one who has had some success in
obtaining records and tracing family trees, while encountering the fact that in
other cases almost no records exist anymore. I don't like to think of it as the
"end of the road," but realistically speaking when we find that archives have no
metric or vital records, or even censuses on families, we're left with whatever we
have >from anecdotes or bits and pieces here and there that may or may not be
accurate. I think, however, that given the way history has gone over the past 1-2
centuries we should find ways of finding satisfaction in whatever we have indeed
discovered in our genealogy research and family tree work.
The cup is not half empty but half full .

Looking to make contact with the GOLNIC family whose ancestor was a
Rabbi David (son of Moshe of Kletzk) of the city of Novarodok during
the 18th century. According to family lore my greatgrandfather's
grandfather was a brother of the above David.

Many years ago I was in touch with Arthur (A)GOLNIC who wrote to me
that they have a family circle and asked me for information about my
family but unfortunately we lost contact.

Dear friends,

I'm trying to make contact with the family of Rabbi Chaim Elazar

Some web sites show that a person by that name was a brother of the
Munkach Rebbe and passed away in 2013.
His son is Rabbi Yosef Asher RABINOVICH of New York
and his daughter married Rabbi FINKELSTEIN >from Antwerp

Any help of contacting this family would be very much appreciated!

Jan Meisels Allen

The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) is a partnership of Canadian

research enterprise in Canada. The 60 million pages of Canadiana

monographs, annuals, and newspapers will be free to access as of January 1,
2019. The removal of the paywall effective January 1, 2019 is international.

Making the Canadiana collections available at no cost to users is a result
of the recent merger between Canadiana.org, a not-for-profit charity, and
the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN), a not-for-profit partnership
of 75 Canadian universities, finalized in April 2018. The Canadiana
collections include three flagship collections: Early Canadiana Online,
