Budapest - help needed #hungary

Lawrence Korman <korman3@...>

I'm trying to find a family with the surname of Pasches.

The parents were Jakob and Margit. They were living in Budapest as late
as the 1960s. It is possible that Margit is still alive, but not really
likely. I don't know the names of any of the children, but there were
some. I am told that Margit was blind.

All help appreciated.

I don't have any suggestions regarding translation software :-(. However, you
may want to try William Hoffman's article, Translating Letters >from the Polish
National Archives, published in the August 95 issue of Rodziny, the journal of
the Polish Genealogical Society of America. The article includes some general

Mogilev-area maps #belarus

dardasht@...

David, et al.

Tomorrow I am taking my Mogilev maps to have them enlarged so we
may have an accurate (as far as these maps go) village list. Can these be
scanned or utilized in someway on the web site?
David, as you know, the place names are written in a "quaint"
sort of spelling (combo German-Russian in sometimes 'old' German script).
An enlargement will help us all.
I believe there are seven sheets to this series, and I will
enlarge them up to 2x3 on the blueprint machines.

Schelly Dardashti

Mogilev: TALALAY, KONVISER, BERLIN, MERL/MERLIN, RATNER, DISKIN, KORE,
STAROSELSKI, ALTSHULER, SCHULMAN, ROGOVER, JASSEN/YASSIN and many many
more. Also connections to Baranovichi, Bobruisk, Chaussy, Starodub,
Gorki. Main shtetls: Vorotinschtina (about 18km south-southwest of
Mogilev) and Zaverezhye. Also, everywhere TALALAY/TOLLIN/TALLIN
(TALL-TOLL) everywhere. In former USSR: Minsk, St. Petersburg, Moscow,
Siberia, Mogilev, etc. Israel, USA, Canada, UK, etc.

Moderator's Note: Schelly, thank you for your efforts. After you extract
all the location names on the Mogilev map, please post them on the
this Discussion Group. Also, please scan the maps and e-mail the file to
Risa Heywood <risah@ibm.net>, our hardworking Belarus SIG Webmaster. In
fact, if anyone else has maps, documents, appropriate photos >from Belarus,

has a scanner and may be able to scan them for you and return your
originals. Please contact her before you mail anything to her for
scanning.
