You can try to check out the Danish Emigration Archives website (online
search possible - but NOTE: NO SOUNDEX, only WILDCARDS) - the address is:

http://users.cybercity.dk/~ccc13656/

and/or

The Swedish Emigrant Institute

http://www.hv.se/forskn/migr/sei/eng2.html

I am not sure whether online search there is possible.

Any help would be appreciated before I try searching the Indexes to Hamburg

Minsk Yizkor Book Translation Project #belarus

David M. Fox <fox@...>

I just wanted to let those of you who have an interest in Minsk City and
the immediate surrounding area that I have found two volunteers who are
willing to translate/transliterate the table of contents and the name
index in both volumes of the Minsk Yizkor Book. Work will not start
until after the Holidays.

For those of you who have material that needs to be translated, look
close by. After Rosh Hashanna services, I spoke with two people who I
have known for years. One was born in Israel and is married to a Navy
officer stationed here in Annapolis. The other is a Holocaust survivor
who just got back >from Poland where she was trying to find the graves of
her family. Both of these woman considered the translation work a
mitzvah. I may need someone to enter the transliterated work into an
Excel spread sheet so we can upload the file to the Belarus SIG Web
Site.

Braslav Researchers:

I received a private e-mail >from someone who has a copy of the Braslav
Yizkor Book and is willing to make a copy of the table of contents and
memorial name list pages if someone is will to take on the task of
getting them translated.

According to this researcher, Braslav is today located in Belarus. But
from 1843 to the end of WWI, it was in Kovno guberniya. And before that
in Vilnius guberniya and
before that in Lithuania guberniya and before that it belonged to a
Polish noble.
