Seeking: AMADU, Belgium #general

Sam Wolff <baalh@...>

I am trying to track down Robert AMADU (possibly AMADO), who was born in
Brussells, Belgium on April 22, 1913. Does anybody have experience in working with
this country? I have no idea if he is still alive or not- I met him once in the
early 1970's. An on-line search of the Belgium telephone book came up negative. If
anybody can locate him or his tomb, his wife and/or his children (if he had any),
or suggest to me how to do it, I would be grateful. I am seeking your basic
genealogical info: names and dates of parents, spouse, children. I believe his
father was Avram AMADU, born in Craiova, Romania, but this needs to be confirmed.
With thanks,
Sam WOLFF, Jerusalem (formerly Chicago)

Seeking: HARRISON #general

Angela Steele <angela.steele@...>

Dear Sirs

I am trying to trace my grandmother's father. My grandmother lived in
Walthamstow, East London and was born in 1888. Her birth certificate shows her
father as William Henry HARRISON, Woollen Traveller. Her mother Edith Mary
Harrison later described herself as a widow. There is no record at the Public
Records Office of their marriage and they may not have been married but I do
believe there is a chance that he was jewish. Are there any jewish records that I
can search that might prove a marriage or even the existence of William Henry
Harrison in Walthamstow at that time. I would be grateful for any advice you
might give me.

Yours sincerely

Chinye vs Schachna #general

Paul NMN B

On a 1905 passenger manifest,Chinye AGATER entered Ellis Island and was
subsequently deported for the Hernia he had. The manifest is very clearly written
and there can be no mistake as to the name. The name Chinye never appears in the
family again.

On other data collected >from Polish archives, the name Schachna appears a number
of times through out the generations.

Has anyone ever heard of the name Chinye? Could it be a nickname for
Schachna?

Thanks

Mike Glazer <glazer@...>

Can someone tell me if the names Herszko and Yehushe are related by any chance? I
have found a photo with the name Yehushe Glazer. But I also had a relative called
Herszko Glazer; so I need to know if they could be the same.

Re: Norm Tillman #general

Sally Bruckheimer <sallybru@...>

I am sad to tell genners, but the former head of the Albany Jewish Genealogical
Society, Norman Tillman, has passed away. I met him online, discussing things
genealogical, and when I went to Albany for a short time, Norm and his wife,
Sally, welcomed me with open arms. Norm had ancestors >from Raczki as I had, but
we never found any connection (Raczki was a fairly big city on the border of
Russia and Prussia) - and that disappointed me because I wanted them to be real
cousins not just good friends.

When I first met them, Norm was getting over knee-replacement surgery, but that
didn't heal, and things got worse. For the past few years, he had gone through
some of serious ailments and recently he lost his battle; so he had been ill all
the years I knew him, but we met even after I left Albany for other work - with
him hobbling on crutches at times, but still welcoming me warmly.

I will miss him, and I'm sure all the Albany area genealogists, and those in the
wider community who knew Norm will miss him as well.

Sally did not initially think about notifying everyone, but I am sure that there
are some out there who would want to know. If you want to contact Sally, please
send email to me and I will forward the mail, as I am not sure she would want her
email address to be published.
