Re: Brussels newspaper archive look-up -- Big Mystery #france

Hello, again. I should have added below that this person was
identified in the newspaper article as someone by the name of "Ross,"
not Reinhold. "Ross" was his alias name while working for British
intelligence and the Haganah during the kidnapping incident in Brussels
in 1947.
Thanks again.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone in Belgium (Brussels) can
track down a newspaper article about a Jewish Brigade veteran by the
name of Reinhold who was kidnapped off the streets of Brussels around
May 14 (or 17), 1947. Yes, 1947!
A newspaper reporter spotted the kidnapping and quickly got the police
to give chase. The kidnappers were caught, put on trial and sent to
jail. Reinhold, who was injured and sent to the hospital, suddenly
disappeared >from Brussels a short time later with the help of British
Secret Service. Big mystery.

The kidnapping incident was written up in a one or more newspapers in
Brussels near the dates mentioned above. I hope someone has access to
an electronic archive of newspaper articles that can search for this
1947 story. Thank you very much.

author Willi BUSCHHOFF writings published in Germany? #germany

Hanna Grossman <hannakg@...>

Willi BUSCHHOFF was an uncle of a relative whose papers have come
into my hands. He was born about 1890 , probably in Worms, Hesse,
was last heard of in 1938 in Berlin. He was an actor and apparently
writer. In 1938 he sent his niece(in th US) a number of short
stories, suggesting that she get them translated and published.

I would like to know how to find out whether writings by Willi BUSCHHOFF
had been published in Germany . Suggestions for sources?

You should register your name[s] in the JGFF so that other people can
find you should they be looking for like names. I couldn't get in
there to check for you.

Re: The family name BEHLE #germany

Dear genners, Benyamin Behle asked:
"1. the name BEHLE sources ? 2. how this name came to my family ?"

My answer is:
You have 2 explanations, the first explanation is that this name derives from
the feminim Yiddish name Bella. Bella is a very common name in the Jewish
name culture and for this name are 2 sources, one >from the Latin meaning
Beautiful, or >from the Biblical name Bilha.

The second option is that this name is a Toponim (a place name). I look
into the Internet and find this site:

http://www.netzekreis.de/ortschaften/behle/behle.html

This place was in district Czarnikau ,Posen. Perhaps >from this place we
have the family name Behle.

In the book : Duden, Familiennamen, Dudenverlag Mannheim 2000 on page 114
I read that the name BEHLE derives >from the place names Beel in
Niedersachsen, Beelen in Westfalia, Behl in Holstein, Behla in
Baden-Wurtemberg, Behle in Brandenburg, Bela in Bohemia.

Mt opinion is that the best solution is the place name Behle in Posen.

To the question how the name came in the family I cannot give a answer.
You must to do a lot of research to find it.

Best regards Ury Link Amsterdam Holland <uryl@xs4all.nl>

I'm trying to locate the town where my EISENKRAFT ancestors came

heard of this town and do you know how I might obtain birth and
death records? (Also researching WEINER and MEHLER [MILLER]-

Thank you.

Hi,

My great-great-aunt is buried at Sheffield Jewish Cemetery (Colley
Road). Is there a kind person in that area who can take a photograph
of her tombstone for me? (The cemetery only has a caretaker, and he
will not take photographs of tombstones). I can do research in Israel
in return. Please contact me privately.

Thanks,

Yes, young women did get married quite young! Both of
my maternal great grandmothers had early marriages, my
maternal grandmother's parents were 13 and 15 when
they married. My maternal grandfather's mother died
