ViewMate, SCHUELER SPITZ Breslau/Wroclaw 1914 #germany

Irene Newhouse

I've posted the last item >from the souvenirs of my grandparents'
engagement in 1914 - a letter >from Dr. Clemens Neisser, a psychiatrist
who has wikipedia pages in German & Polish, but not English.
The words I can't read are either underlined in red or indicated
by arrows, if underlining would intersect part of the word.
I've included everything I could figure out. The item comprises
2 images with URLs:

http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=VM71273

http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=VM71274

There wasn't enough space to include the entire transcription
(to the extent I have it) with each image, so I divided it over
the text boxes for both images. Dr. N's penmanship is truly difficult
- after not looking at it a few days, I asked myself how on earth I'd
gotten as far as I had.

Please respond via the form provided on the ViewMate image page.
Thank you very much! Irene Newhouse, Kihei Hawaii USA

German "evangelisch" should be translated to "protestant" #germany

Corinna Woehrl (nee Goslar)

Dear Gersig-List-Readers

During the last few weeks I read a few translations of vital records
from German to English on the wonderful "view-mate"-platform.
There was one quite typical mistake which I would like to clarify:
The German word "evangelisch" was mostly translated to evangelical. Yet
it should rather correctly be translated as protestant/lutheran. The
often used translation evangelical would (mostly) describe a rather
fundamentally positioned protestant christian church based solely on
literal interpretation of the bible. To find out, which specific church
was visited, it would then be necessary to research the local church
records.

Though there is also a long history of evangelical churches in Germany,
they are and have been rather a small fraction (under 10%) - most
protestant congregations belong to the "Evangelische Kirche Deutschland"

Regards >from Germany

Searching for KUZINETZ Family Descendants #belarus

David Slater

Yad Vashem Pages of Testimony for my great-aunt & uncle's family was
submitted by a Neighbor's Cousin named Beihla Kuzinetz [Don't know her
maiden name]. I am searching for Beihla's descendants to figure out her
specific relationship to my family.

My great aunt & uncle Isaac/Aizl & Fraidke Deutsch [Dajcz], their daughter
Cheinka Deutsch, their daughter Batia Deutsch Bukovitzki, son-in-law Avraham
Bukovitzki & grandchildren Khana & Rasha Bukovitzki were all murdered in an
Einsatzgruppen Aktion in Slonim, Belarus in 1942.

A researcher in Israel was able to find out Beihla Kuzinetz (1893-1977) &
husband Eliezar Kuzinetz (1886-1975) emigrated to Israel, Sept, 1951 & lived
in Haifa. A son Itzhak Barzilay (formerly Kuzinetz), b. 1932 emigrated to
Israel in 1964 and lived in Ashkelon. Itzhak Barzilay had two sons Sahy &
Izzy-Eliezer Barzilay. No other information was found & researcher suggested
sons may have emigrated???

If anyone is aware of this family or can suggest additional avenues of
research I'd be most grateful. My guess is Beihla may be a cousin of Avraham
Bukovitzki, as that's the only POT (page of testimony) where she writes Cousin
rather than Relative or Neighbor.

WWI Military Records #hungary

Rivka Horowitz

To H-SIG members:
I am requesting help and resources that might help me uncover details
of my great-uncle's military service during WWI. I have no idea where
in the Austro-Hungarian Empire he may have served, but I know he was
living in Fiume (Rijeka) at the time of his conscription and served in
the army >from 1914-1919. I have been told by other family members that
he died in 1922 of wounds originally sustained in the war. I was
wondering if Austro-Hungarian military records >from that time and
place are available to researchers and if there may be hospital
records that were kept >from that period.

Thank you.
