ViewMate translation request - Polish from Tomaszow Lubelski - PUTER and FAYNER #general

Sonny Putter <sonny_putter@...>

I would appreciate an English translation of the Polish text of the 1847
Tomaszow Lubelski, Poland death record of Rywka PUTER, Akta 177. I would
like a translation of all the genealogically significant information,
especially her place of birth and the actual date and place of death. Does
the record also confirm that the witnesses, Michel PUTER and Peysach PUTER,
are her sons?

It is on ViewMate at the following address:
http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=VM72510

Please respond using the online ViewMate form.
Thank you very much.

Greetings ROM-SIG members - You can now see the sights of Alba Iulia
via QR code (for those of you, like me, who don't know what a QR code
is, it's the square bar code you scan with your phone). The restored
Jewish cemetery and synagogue are now accessible through the barcode.

38th Jewish Battalion Enlistments #unitedkingdom

Jerry Zeisler <jzeisler@...>

Hi JCR-UK SIG,
I'm wondering if anyone knows if the enlistment records survived for
volunteers of the 38th Battalion Royal Fusiliers (Jewish Legion)? My
great-uncle, Samuel Adelson, was a native Russian (Lithuanian) living in
the US for 5 years (not yet a citizen), but was assigned to the 38th
Battalion. Since the 38th consisted of mostly British, I'm trying to
determine how Sam got into the unit?

I know that there were a handful of Americans and Canadians in the 38th,
but I have not been able to determine exactly how they got there since
the 38th left for France/Italy/Palestine in Feb 1918, the same time the
recruitment began for the Jewish Legion in the US, and prior to them
heading to Canada for training.

I have read that some recruits >from the 38th went missing before the
ship left London for France, and that volunteers >from the 39th were
asked to fill their ranks. But again, I'm not exactly sure of the timing
here since I don't know when or where Sam enlisted. He lived in
Springfield, Massachusetts, so I would guess he enlisted around there or
Boston, but I don't know.

Sam did have an aunt and uncle in Spitlefields, so I thought he might
have traveled to London and signed up there. But I've checked the UK
incoming manifests and came up empty.

I've searched the records for US residents serving in the B.E.F.
(1917-1919), but he's not listed there. Is there a separate list for the
E.E.F?

Does anyone know how the Americans and Canadians ended up in the 38th,
or where to find enlistment dates and locations? Were they destroyed in
the blitz? I do have access to Ancestry and MyHeritage, and I've
searched there as well.

Thanks for any help and guidance.

Looking for more information on my family history #germany

urie2@...

Hi all; my interest in joining this site is similar to most of you, looking
for information on my family's past history.

where it differs is in the details, which are below;

I am the son of two holocaust survivors. Both of my parents were the only
members of their individual families to survive. they decided on the need
to leave Germany, and start a new life in the USA.

The town they left is called Amoneburg located near Marburg.

My fathers name was Siegfried Stern, and my mother, who is still living,
Minna Buxbaum and was born in Fulda.

Alternative to LDS source for records: Bardudvarnok, Gyongyos #hungary

Greetings, I have been quite fortunate in finding records >from many
towns through LDS, either on FamilySearch or at a Family HIstory
Center, thus have become rather spoiled. I recently found a lead to
new line of family >from Bardudvarnok, Somogy megye. Civil
registrations available through LDS do not include the timespan of
interest. Similarly, while FamilySearch has many records for
Gyongyos, Heves megye, the collection inconveniently omits the years I
need.

Any and all suggestions for alternative ways to access records (of any
sort) >from these towns would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance,

ViewMate translation request - Russian #lodz #poland

annette bagle <annette.bagle@...>

Hi All
I previously requested translation of a Lodz registration Card and as
aresult found a previously unknown family member, Roza Wajnkranc.
This prompted me to write to the State Archive in Lodz and was
thrilled to receive 13 documents related to this family but they had
nothing for Roza. She was 12 years old in 1920 - can anyone suggest
where else I could look?

I would be grateful for a translation of the first five documents
which look like Russian to me.
