Looking for descendants of Kleinberg / Weintraub / Margulies #general

Adelle Gloger

Dear group,

Having searched the Yad Vashem site I came accross a page of testimony
submitted by Frances KLEINBERG who in 1990 was living on Cabrini Blvd. in NYC.
The record was for her mother, Miriam (Mina) WEINTRAUB, maiden name HELLER,
born in Grzymalow, Galicia in 1881.

Mrs. Kleinberg also submitted a page of testimony for brother, David
WEINTRAUB, born 1913 in Nowy Sacz. Mother's maiden name was Mina WEINTRAUB and
father was Herman Margulies.

My issues are this:

1) My pat. grfa was Anshel WEINTRAUB born in Grzymalow in the mid 1870s. His
father was Josef Weintraub and his mother was Anna Heller. Is there a
connection with the Weintraub/Heller family listed on Yad Vashem.

2) In the second case my grfa's sister, Rose Weintraub, came to the USA in
1910. She listed as the relative she left a sister, Mina MARGULIES in Nowy
Sacz. Could this David Weintraub be the son of the Mina Margulies, sister of my
gr-Aunt, Rose Weintraub?

3) When my grfa's brother, Emil Weintraub, came to the USA in 1909 he
indicated he was going to a cousin by the name of Margulies in New York City.

4) The names, dates and places all seem to go together, but I can't seem to
make the definitive connection.

I did a search looking for Mrs. Frances Kleinberg at the NYC address given
on the pages of testimony in 1990. I found a listing for a Ludwig Kleinberg at
the same address with a telephone number. When I did a reverse search for
the phone number, I drew a blank. I check the Soc. Sec. index and found both
Frances and Ludwig with the postal zip code shown in the Yad Vashem listing.
They were each in their 90s when they died around 2001.

I would be most appreciative if anyone knows of these people or their
families so that I could make contact as there is a possibility that they might
be the family I've been looking for.

Thank you all for your help in the past.

Looking for Boris ERLIKH in Ukraine or Israel #general

Shawn Weil <euphman@...>

Fellow Genners-

I finally took the time to explore the Yad Vashem. To my utter surprise, I
found a listing for my grandmother's aunt, Ettel BROITMAN ERLIKH and her
husband/children. My grandmother's immediate family was >from Savran,
Ukraine, and immigrated to the US via Romania and Canada c. 1922. She was
only 4 at the time, and has almost no recollection of the extended family
that was left behind. I was able to obtain the names of her aunts and
uncles >from another family member, who has since passed away.

I am looking for the family of Boris ERLIKH, who registered the ERLIKH
family in the Pages of Testimony in 1991. He would be my grandmother's
first cousin. I am not sure if Boris was living in Ukraine or Israel at
the time, or if he is still living. I would very much like to contact him
or his family - probably the first contact between our families for 85 years.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Happy Thanksgiving.

A list of the holdings of Standesamt I in Berlin is given in Standesregister
und Personenstandsbuecher der Ostgebiete im Standesamt I in Berlin
Gesamtverzeichnis fuer die ehemaligen deutschen Ostgebiete, die besetzten
Gebiete und das Generalgouvernement.

I assume that this book is available in major German collections such as
Leo Baeck, but if anyone cannot locate a copy and has a specific question please
feel free to contact me at pdlande@starpower.net. Be aware that none of these
records go further back than 1874, when general civil registrations were
introduced in Germany.

Dear JewishGenners

My posting this past Sunday regarding information on Helen RUTOS generated
numerous replies, all very helpful. With everyone's help, we have been able to
identify Helen's husband, and I have already obtained a copy of their marriage
license >from the city of Detroit. We have also come up with 3 variant
spellings of Helen's maiden name, which will be helpful as well.

Thank you to everyone who helped
