Dear Anne and Jewishgenners, I guess a Jewish Family Tree would hold only Jews and if that is all David wants, I believe he is entitled to that. But
a Descendancy Chart includes all people beginning >from as far back as we able to reach to the present. I have been overanxious in including everyone
who connects in anyway, shape or form and have now over 8600 names
connected to an OSHINSKY family. Some are Cohen's some are Levites and some
are Israelites.
Other are Agnostics, Converts both ways and also run the gamut of Christianity.
They are families of families, but they connect. I have difficulty in leaving them out. It would be like a jig-saw puzzle without all the pieces.

So it is my contention, that David take your chart and remove the names that seem to disturb him and keep it for his purposes as a Jewish Family Tree. You however continue to create a Descendancy Chart with the roots and branches spread out to the world.

Mission ACCOMPLISHED!!!! #general

Susan E. King <susan.king@...>

Just in to report our mission today of moving the two JewishGen
servers to a T-1 line has been accomplished. I am also here to report
that you can now hear a pin drop in this house. <grin> One can only
imagine the constant "humm and crunching" that was going on in this
house... 24/7 365 days a year. Looking after machines for the last 12+
years of my life... there is quite a noticeable difference! <grin>

Barring a few missing cables.. and ONE power supply which "went south"
.. all systems appear to be a go.

You should see a substantial increase in the speed of access to our
web server... as well as more prompt delivery of your digests tonight.
The primary service providers we checked this afternoon indicated
propagation went like clockwork.. and there was probably no more than
an hour delay in most cases.

Stay tuned for some exciting announcements in the weeks to come about
some new ways to access and retrieve your JewishGen "fix" in a manner
that many of you have suggested.

Now we just need to accomplish the mission of "paying for the increase
in services". <grin> Your contributions will insure the continued
accessibility to JewishGen's information highway... which just grew by
about 24 lanes... so to speak!

Information on how you can contribute to JewishGen is available at the
following URL's.

http://www.jewishgen.org/jewishgen-erosity/

or

http://www.jewishgen.org/jewishgen-erosity/1k.html
(for those who may wish to contribute a minimum of $1000 annually)

Information for sending checks, faxing credit cards or making online
credit card contributions is readily available at both of these sites.

For those who simply need the address:

JewishGen, Inc.
12 Greenway Plaza, Suite 1100
Houston, TX 77046

In any event... off we go...
To sleep, per chance to dream... ARGH, where is the noise?

If you can't tell... this is going to be an adjustment.. <rotf>

Susan

MA cemetaries #general

Cheryl Hoover <crhoover@...>

Recently someone posted a site that lists all Jewish Cemeteries
throughout history in the state of Massachusetts. I found this site
very interesting and it cleared up some question I had. One problem. I
misplaced the site location. Does someone out there remember the
address for this site? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Cheryl

Mystery Shtetls -- Part II . . .Please help! #general

Sandhaus <sandhaus@...>

I, too, would like to call upon the geography (and language gurus) for a little
shtetl help.

Yad Vashem lists several of my family members as being >from two locations which
I cannot even begin to locate:

1. Skazanitz, Ukraine
2. Kotesti, Romania

A third location, Hlinitza (Ukraine), has been reliably linked to an even
larger grouping of my family members. . . except I cannot locate Hlinitza
anywhere!

Please help!! (For what it's worth, my other family members typically hail
from the Sanok (Poland) / Dobromil (Ukraine) / Rzeszow (Poland) general area.
Some others have come >from Czernowitz (Romania) and Debica (Poland).)

Thanks,
Buck Sandhaus

Re: Social security records #general

rita <rivke@...>

If I apply for US social security records what information is this
likely to contain?

I know this may seem a dumb question for all you US Jewishgenners but
Australia does not have social security records in the same manner that
US does (in fact there was an attempt to introduce it a few years ago
and it was considered by the general population to be undemocratic!)

Need help in Seattle. The grandsons of Max Kreielsheimer helped to
establish the Temple de Hirsch Synagogue. I'm trying to find out when Max
KREIELSHEIMER arrived in the USA, and when he was born, or who his parents
were. He was >from Rheinbischofsheim in Germany. Burial records or similar

Max married Olivia THORNTON.

Locating Published Family Histories #general

Seflaum@...

To Jewishgenners:
I have searched the internet but cannot find a list of published
genealogies/family histories of Jewish families (or for all published family
histories, for that matter. Does anyone know if such a list exists? I heard
through the grapevine, for example, that a Harold Berger in Ohio publishes
family history of Berger families. However, I cannot find any trace of him.
Any help would be appreciated.
