I have a death certificate for Rachel Plitnick Swerdlowsky. It says she died in
the Montefiore Home and Hospital in 1919. She entered it in 1916. Growing up in
the Bronx, I am familiar with Montefiore Hospital. Can anyone give me
information on the Home? How can I obtain info for the year 1919? Thank-you,

What I'm hoping for is some additional spellings for the name Unchel, I've
searched several data bases and haven't come up with a match so I know I'm
spelling it wrong.
My guess would be that it's a variation of Anschel (also Amschel, Anselm).
This is a not-too-uncommon first name, and therefore might also pop up
occasionally as a last name.

I'm trying to find my LAPIDUS cousins. This is the only branch of known
cousins we can't find. Yetta Lobel married Al Lapidus. Yetta was born
in 1910. They had two sons, Marvin and Harvey. Harvey married Roz.
That's all the info I have, other than Harvey and Marvin were born in
the 1930s. Thanks.

Udi Cain <vn17152@...>

Searching for ZADIKOV, ZADOK AHARON HALEVI, father of Chaia Esther , who
lived in the Kiev Gubrnya, near Kapitonawka or Balandino, probably a Chabad
Hassid, his daughter was married to Joel Meir CHAIKIN, son of Zvi Hirsh
CHAIKIN, they were forced to leave Ukraine, and went to Palestine in 1886.
We are also searching for their daughters Sima WOLODARSKI and Sarah BRODSKI, that stayed in Ukraine. Sima in Yekaterinoslav and Sarah maybe in Kiev.
Joel MEIR died in 1898, his wife Chaia Esther, died in 1918. their son
Menachem Mendel CHAIKIN (born in 1868), came to Chevron in 1881 to study
with Shimon Menashe CHAIKIN head of the Chabad rabbinical college, Mendel
married Chana Zelda ZALAZNIK (born in Chevron 1865), in Jerusalem in 1886,
had their daughter Sarah in 1888, and son Zvi Chaim JACOB, in 1890, went to
London in 1893, establish the firm BOZWIN, (Beauty of Zion) wine of the
holy land, sellers. Mendel CHAIKIN had purchased an old Chapel in London,
renovate the building and transformed it to the synagogue of "MACHZIKEI
HADAT" in London.
when Rabbi KUK stayed in London, he offered him to be the Rabbi of
"MACHZIKEI HADAT" and the Rabbi lived in Mendel's's home between 1916-1919,
then he went back to Eretz Israel, and became later, Chief Rabbi. When
Rabbi HERZOG came to London >from Ireland for his studying, he also lived in
Mendel's home.
