I found the following information on the Hungarian search engine, where yoiu
also get the proper way of spelling with the accents which differs in
Hungarian, Slovak and English. You may have to experiment on your browser

Does anyone know which town this might be referring to? It was listed
as residence in 1909 on passenger list for Alexander Rosenbluth. I've
checked the JewishGen archives and also ShtetlSeeker and found no
listings.
Thanks for your help.

To Moishe Shalom,
I have a few questions related to the list posted for the discussion group:
1. The persons marked to have died in 1944, did they perish during the
Holocaust?
2. You didn't publish the fourth generation. Which is your line? Who are
your grandparents?
3. Was by any chance Chayim PERLSTEINs father, Nissan?

Schwartz of Uzhgorod Ukraine #hungary

maurice swarts <mswarts@...>

I note that Elizabeth S. Lourie of Washington DC lists an interest in
SCHWARTZ

My ggf Jacob Schwartz was born in Unghvar now Uzgorod/Uzhhorod in the
Ukraine on 10 October 1832

Jacob arrived in England in the early 1850's - he fathered 10 children [ 3
with Harriet CARTER and later 7 more with Sarah CARTER ]

Jacob became a naturalised British Citizen in 1876 - he was ajeweller by
trade

I am searching for any help in tracing his family, parents and siblings in
what was the AustroHungarian empire in the 1800's

Hope that we may be able to make some positive progress

Memorial wall #hungary

Dr Andrew Gal <drgal@...>

Could someone post photos of the wall? It should not be too difficult with
digital photography. Will our moderator allow the attachment of photos of
small size, say <100KB? If not, perhaps their availability could be posted
and forwared off-list on individual request, although that could be quite
tiresome for the photographer. Alternately, maybe they could be put on
Viewmate.

Moderator: JewishGen lists can't accept messages w. attachments. Those who have images of the wall that they are willing to share may send messages inviting off-list requests.

In the last days there are two messages praising but also criticizing the
"Memorial Wall" in Budapest

Hallo,Gersig,

At the "Hessische Hauptstaatsarchiv" I was told the name of a descendant of the
Jewish branch of my family. There the compensation for her parents and
grandparents is registered. She escaped by a "Kindertransport" to England.
Her name is Lili FULD married MEYER / MEIJER. Together with her husband she moved
to Scheveningen / Netherlands.

I hope to get information there at the municipal office.
If not, where could I search at Jewishgen? There ins't a discussion group for the

Request for assistance with Hebrew Web Site #germany

Geoff Kaiser <geoff_kaiser@...>

Dear Researchers,
I am in need of some assistance with a Hebrew web site for the Cemetry of
Petach Tikva in Israel.

The web site address is http://www.sgula.org.

I am trying to identify if Ephraim (Fritz) KAISER is buried here and if so
what information may be recorded about him. I believe that he migrated >from
Germany to Israel in the early 1930's and died in Petach Tikva and was
presumably buried there in the 1970's.

Could some one conduct a search on this site for me. In fact any
information on any KAISERs would be good.

Any assistance with this would be accepted with many thanks as I am not able
to visit the actual archives in Petach Tikva myself to do the research. Regards,

Geoff Kaiser Melbourne Australia <geoff_kaiser@hotmail.com>

Thank you so much to all the GerSig folks who helped me find brothers of my

Unfortunately according to the Yad Vashem databank they were murdered in

daughters, Hedwig and Karola MERKEL. I would greatly appreciate contact from
anyone having any information about these two girls (at the time).

GerSIG meeting(s) at August Conference in NY #germany

gersig@...

I have heard >from several GerSIG members asking about plans for GerSIG events at
the IAJGS Conference in New York in August.

GerSIG has asked the Conference planners to give us a room for a general meeting
probably on Monday, August 14th.

It is not yet decided if our meeting will include a meal.

NOTE - If you register to attend the Conference you can add an event like a
luncheon to your Conference schedule later. You do *** not *** have to
register for luncheons at the same time you register for the Conference.

If you do register for a luncheon or other meal you
*** can not cancel *** the luncheon registration.
You will find details at the Conference website:

http://www.jgsny2006.org/registration.cfm

To see the schedule of SIG lunches that are scheduled already click on
"Special Interest Group (SIG) Meals".

GerSIG has not decided if our meeting will include a "box lunch" meal
or not. That is why GerSIG is not included in the list of SIG Meals.

If it is decided that GerSIG will include a meal with our meeting this will
be announced and you can buy tickets for the meal later.

GerSIG members who would like to organize "Birds of a Feather" group meetings
during the August Conference should first contact privately other members who
have the same special interests . You will probably want to elect
a chairperson to coordinate planning for your meeting.

If you find that there is enough interest in your special subject your
leader can post a notice in this Forum. The notice should describe
your special interest topic and goals.

See you in August !
