Looking for David FINE, son of Paul FINE & Jennie KAJAVESKI / KUJARSKY #general

Ernest Fine <efine@...>

Based on information on the death certificate for Morris (Moe) FINE, I have
a previously unknown cousin: David FINE, son of Paul FINE & Jennie
KAJAVESKI / KUJARSKY.

According to the information provided for Moe's death certificate, David
lived in Chatsworth, CA, in 1988.

While I'm calling every David FINE in California, one has had his phone
discontinued; he lives / lived in Canoga Park, CA. That might be close to
Chatsworth..

David probably would have been born about 1933 to 1936, and probably in New
York.

If anyone knows him, please contact me privately.

Aberbach or Auerbach #general

Njturtle55@...

On May 9, 1890, a group of 15 people arrived in NYC >from the Hamburg aboard
the SS Russia. Among this group were Buchholtz's (Pickholtz), Kaczer's
(Katcher), Bernstein's, and ABERBACH's (5 in this group). The first three
families are related, so it is possible the forth one is too.

I have not been able to find any of these 5 ABERBACH's. Could their name
really be AUERBACH? The people in this party would be:::
Anna,
Aron,
Gittel,
Rachel,
Salomon.

If anybody has info on this family and/or their relationship to the other
three families, please contact me.

Does your family come from Mogielnica, Warsaw, Poland, if so i want to hear from you #general

Zoo <radio.won@...>

I wondered if you could help.

Mogielnica is a small town, chances are that our families may have known
each other, if so a small scap of information could prove one or other
families past.

I am trying to find out more about my Sherman / Szerman background, and
most of all if I have any other relatives alive. I can trace my family back
to a place called Mogielnica (in the county of Grojec), Warsaw - Poland. I
have a Russian birth certificate >from the period 1901, of my grandfathers
brother - before they came to reside in the UK in 1910. The oldest Sherman
I have in my tree is Pinkhurst (or Pinkus) Sherman who married Sarah
(Sura), surname might have been Popiel. I do not have a date of birth - but
I know they a son, Isaac (Jack) 7/1/1881.

My Sherman family tree website is at www.family.mustbehere.com /
www.family.2ya.com It also explains my Sherman, Polish roots. Can you help?

The nearest name to Sherman, on record is Szerman - on the Jewish Gen
website.

with the kindest of regards

Richard Sherman

Europe/ Buenos Aires/ Mexico/ US #general

Carlos Glikson

Miriam Nadel mentioned a relative emmigrated >from Poland to Mexico and was
there for "a few years" before entering the U.S. in 1925. He apparently had
a brother in Buenos Aires so it's possible he went to Argentina first.
Miriam asked if that would have been a more likely route or would just
going to Mexico directly be more likely.

My father Abraham GLIKSON was born in Marijampole, Lithuania, and came to
Buenos Aires, Argentina >from Suwalki, Poland, where the family lived. He
was 16 or 17 years old when he came on his own, in 1924, on his way to the
US. He had been given enough money to spend a year in Buenos Aires. It was
known that visas here to reach the US were granted by the US Embassy after
approximately that time. He would join his mother's HOLLANDERSKY /
HOLLANDER / POKROISKY family there.

Approximately at the same time, regulations for immigration were modified
in the US. I've just made a quick look up for the info, and missed it.. but
quotas were reduced, and visas that took a year's wait now required ten
times as much.

So here I am, in Argentina in 2001, and suggesting Miriam that a reason for
an alternative Europe> Buenos Aires> Mexico> US route could have been more
favourable entry conditions after a wait in Mexico in 1925. Would a
knowledgeable JGenner have details on this?

Best wishes for a Happy and Peaceful Passover to all !

Jewish East End,London,England-Photos,Stories and Information #general

Laurence Harris <laurence_harris@...>

I am currently developing a website with information about the
Jewish East End of London, England (1656-1945) which is planned
to be hosted on the JewishGen Shtetel Link pages. The
geographical area I intend to cover is broadly Whitechapel, City
of London (a few of the Eastern wards only), Tower Hamlets,
Stepney, Stepney Green, Bethnal Green, Aldgate, Mile End and
Hackney.

The web site desperately needs some photos/pictures/images both
to liven up the site, and for the historical and genealogical
information they convey. Please let me know if you have any
photos depicting life in the East End (markets, streets,
synagogues, buildings, Jewish places of interest, people
practising typical Jewish trades/occupations of the period,
plaques/monuments (not gravestones)) that you would be prepared
to have displayed on the web-site.

Please let me know what you have.
Please do not send any photos or electronic images/files now.

I would also appreciate:
-Any stories/memoirs of the ? Jewish East End before 1945? (the
earlier the better) that you would be prepared to have published
on the website.
-Details of any synagogues in the area (which were active at any
time in the period 1656-1945).
-Details of buildings/monuments/plaques in the area of Jewish
relevance.

Many thanks in advance for your help,
Wishing you all a Happy Pesach,

Laurence Harris
