New additions to Kishinev holdings at FHL #general

Vladimir Tetelbaum

Hi,

Last year I posted various information about Kishinev
birth records at FHL. I just checked and even more
records have been added, including death and marriage
as well as later years. I attaching the link to the
list of microfilms for Kishinev, Moldova (Bessarabia)
which are available at any FHL. Note that the new
films are at the end of the list.

I am posting this for a friend who does not belong to this discussion group.
She is trying to locate Anthony Graham, an attendee at the London Conference
last July who is researching HYAMS. The e-mail address given for him in the
syllabus bounced.

If you have information regarding Mr. Graham's current address, please reply

Thank you very much.

Nowhere. The only major set of US passenger list information available so
far on line are those in the Ellis Island Database.

I am posting this for a friend who has no computer.
Looking for anything re: Nufshie NOVECK may be Jewish >from Russia.
His sons cannot find any record of his coming into New York and then on to
Chicago, Ill. where he was naturalized and married. Since the name Nufshie
bears no resemblance to any name, Yiddish or otherwise, it is a mystery. He
was called John all his life.
please answer me privately at pblumenfeld@msn.com and I will pass along the
information.

Hello
I would like to know if any one can help me get in touch with the
family of David Marchevsky. He is listed as coming into Philadelphia in
1922. His ship was the Mauretania. He was 37 years old in 1922.
It is a name I am interested in.
Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.
This is the last name of one of my mother's cousins. It may or may not
be the correct person.

ELLIS - Newburgh, NY #general

Allen Rabinowitz <allenrab@...>

Dear fellow researchers,

I am interested in finding any descendants of Nathan and Mary ELLIS of
Newburgh, NY. They had five children, born between 1905 and 1915,
approximately. Eva, Lillie, Edna, Eleanor, and Milton. Nathan was a
tailor who owned his own shop in 1920. Family lore says that he was the
head tailor for West Point at one time.

Please respond privately if you are or know of any descendants. Nathan's
brother Henry HARRIS, was my ggf.

Thanks!

Re: Canadian Immigration #general

Joel Stearman <dpastear@...>

Shel Brucker wrote asking about manifests >from St.
Albans District, VT. Assuming the first date indicated
was meant to be 1885 rather than "1985", I suggest going
to NARA Microfilm Publication M1461, "Soundex Index to
Canadian Border Entries through the St. Albans, VT,
District, 1895-1924." This is a Soundex index, so the
surname would have to be "soundexed."

The next step would be to consult NARA Microfilm
Publication M1464, "Manifests of Passengers Arriving in
the St. Albans, VT, District through Canadian Pacific
and Atlantic Ports, 1895-1954." This is a date
(essentially by month), ship name listing. There are
640 rolls in this publication.

Additionally, NARA Microfilm Publication M334, "A
Supplemental Index to Passenger Lists of Vessels
Arriving at Atlantic and Gulf Coast Ports (Excluding New
York), 1820-1874" is an alpha index.

Also, NARA Microfilm Publication M575, "Copies of Lists
of Passengers Arriving at Miscelaneous Ports on the
Atlantic and Gulf Coasts and at Ports on the Great
Lakes, 1820-1873" is an alpha listing by ports, and
includes such ports a Bangor and Bath, ME, Portsmouth,
NH and Providence, RI.

These publications may be available at the Laguna Niguel
Regional Archives of NARA. A phone call should tell you
if they are available there.

I do not know what the corresponding FHC LDS film
numbers are, but, again, a phone call should get you
results on availablity.

Sweden: 1945-1950 #general

Daniel Kazez <dkazez@...>

My cousin, Dora TELMAN, married Piljska BIDA after World War II. They were
both >from Poland, and were both born around 1925.

In 1945, they appear in the "List of Jews of Polish Nationality Who Arrived
in Sweden." Some years later, they went to the USA.

Are they any types of records that would show where they lived in Sweden
between about 1945 and 1950? And are there any records that would show
their departure >from Sweden around 1950 or sometime thereafter?

I am sorry to say that I have never searched for any type of records in
Sweden, so I am completely unknowledgeable.

US 1930 Census Update #9, New Website #general

Weintraub, Joel <jweintraub@...>

First, Stephen Morse, Dave Kehs, and myself are happy to
announce a new website to search the 1930 U S Census. See:
http://home.pacbell.net/spmorse/census

Second, Roll 4 was put out at NARA Laguna Niguel today of
NARA series M1931 which shows a table of addresses to census
district numbers for Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, and other
communities.

Third, I found out that Kansas City, KS, not Kansas City, MO is on
M1931 contrary to previous information given me. I will have to
transcribe the MO city to add to my large cities not on M1931 or
in Soundexed states.

Fourth, if anyone is near the Syracuse University Map library
(NY), I now only need two NY maps to complete part of the
transcription process (Utica and Schenectady) and could use some
help with getting those maps.
