British Naturalization papers for Abraham COHEN #general

Merv & Naomi Barnett

Sometime ago I received naturalization papers for an Abraham COHEN, born
in 1863 in Kimshin, Russia, in 1863. He was naturalized in Manchester in
1887. He is not "my" Abraham COHEN who was born around 1855.

If this person is part of your family I would be happy to post them to
you, in preference to destroying them.

Romanian Shul - St. Louis City, Missouri #general

jeremy frankel

Dear Patricia,

According to the 1907-08 American Jewish Year Book, there was a
Romanian shul in St. Louis. It was called the "Ahawath Achim Anschai
Romania. It was organized on 24 July, 1902. The President (in 1907)
was Sam MAYER, 1207 N. 9th Street; the Treasurer was Moische MARCUS,
1821 Biddle Street, the Secretary was Abraham ABRAHAMS, 1020 N. 13th
Street. The annual income was $500. Five cemeteries are listed but
the above congregation is not listed as one of the 13 congregations
using them.

Sorry I can't be more helpful

Does anyone have information of the perhaps whereabouts of a Romanian shul
that might have existed in St. Louis City, St. Louis in the early 1900's?
Are there records of a Romanian congregation in the area - then and now?
Was there a specific cemetery that might have had a Romanian section?
Any information gratefully appreciated.

Searching: Labour camp "Wendefurt" in Germany/Austria #general

Robert Fraser <rgfraser@...>

I posed this this question some time ago, with no luck, but maybe some
more information will come to light.

My late grandfather was, so I have been told, sent >from Vienna in 1939 to
a labour camp called "Wendefurt" (this spelling may be incorrect). I
always assumed it to be in Germany, but my uncle, his son, now says that
it was near Vienna and that his father returned home each day or maybe each
week. Understandably, he didn't want to talk much about it, so I'm left
with guesses.

I have a photograph of my grandfather and others taken at the camp - so it
is unlikely to have been a big nazi secret. I don't know how long he
stayed there.

So where was it? I can find no mention in the Forgotten camps website
http://www.jewishgen.org/ForgottenCamps/

Has anyone out there heard of it or can they throw any light on this
mystery?

Shalom

I hope this is not going ahead, as these lists are already computerized at

have the computerized list in our database within a few 2-3 months.

There is no such project being conducted by JRI-Poland, LARG (Lodz Area

Large eastern Europe map? #general

I would like to have a very large wall-sized map of eastern Europe next to
my family- tree-in-progress, in which to place flagged pins with the names
of ancestors. Does anybody have any suggestions for where I might purchase
such an item, or how I could produce one >from a smaller map?

Searching MANDELBAUM and GUGENHEIMER #unitedkingdom

Kitty M Cooper <kittymunson@...>

I joined this list, although my Jewish ancestors are Bavarian, because
my ggg-grandmother Regina GUNDELFINGER GUGENHEIMER died in Hackney,
London in 1858 (and someone I met through Jewishgen was kind enough to
send me her death certificate, thank you again!). I am presuming she went
to live there >from Regensburg after her husband died because one of her
daughters had married David MANDELBAUM >from London and had gone to live
there.
I am hoping to eventually try and track down any descendants of that
daughter once I learn more about doing London research:

my gg-aunt Fanny Gugenheimer b: August 05, 1808 in Regensburg, Bavaria
