Dear GerSIGers,

Since 2007 an association in the city of Apolda in Thuringia has been
transforming the former home and business of the Jewish PRAGER Family
into a place of learning and meeting. More about this group and its
activity can be found at the address

www.prager-haus-apolda.de <http://www.prager-haus-apolda.de/>

The fate of a number Apolda's former Jewish residents has been
established and a number of so-called tripping stones have been put in
place. Now the project seeks to learn more about these people, their
families, and others whose fate is not yet clear. (See the following list.)

If you have more details of any of these people, send information, in
German if possible or clearly written English, to:

Subject: Re: Numerical annotation on Passenger list #ukraine

MERYL RIZZOTTI

The numerical annotations on the Passenger manifests refer to the Certificate of
Arrival. When the passenger was naturalized the number of the Certificate of
Arrival was noted near the passenger's name. So if there is a number that is a
good indication that the immigrant was naturalized. However, just because the
number is not there does not mean the passenger was not naturalized.

Numerical annotation on passenger list #unitedkingdom

amcigryfe@...

ViewMate is displaying an image (#20025) of an extract >from a passenger list,
http://www.jewishgen.org/ViewMate/viewmateview.asp?key=20025
showing a 6-digit annotation beside a name of interest to me. It is the only
name on the page that bears such an annotation, and I am asking if anyone can
explain its significance.

Possibly pertinent is my belief that this person actually arrived with a wife
and three children, but I do not see them on the page, or anywhere else in the
listing of this voyage, which was the SS Kensington of Red Star Line, Liverpool
to Quebec City, May 1905.

Researching KOPACZ/KOPATZ/KOPATCH/COPITCH >from Dvinsk or Druja.

Thanks

Re: "Declaration of Means" - can one collect from these assets? #germany

Andreas Schwab <andreas.schwab@...>

Assets in German accounts were forfeited if not declared on a special
form called "Ablieferung von Bargeld und Anmeldung von
Reichsmarkkonten bei Geldinstituten" (Handing in of cash and
registration of accounts in reichsmarks at financial institutions).
http://www.zum.de/psm/n45/bargeld_e.php
The deadline was 26 June 1948.
Even then, one part of the assets were devaluated 1:10, another one
later 6.5:100, and what was left was scrapped altogether.

descendants of

Dear Cousins,

I was one of the twenty-three participants at the IAJGS conference that
unanimously voted the SIG's funds for projects that are valuable to many
of us. No money has been expended so let's put it to good use.

Randy, put me down for a contribution by end of year to try and meet our
goal of raising another $15,000 and have these projects completed within
my lifetime!
