KRIENES from Slutsk #belarus

rubin20@...

I am trying to research the family KRIENES >from Slutsk. I know
my-g-g-grandfather died in 1926, and his wife predeceased him by many
years. How would I be able to view the Burial records of Slutsk which I
see mentioned in so many places. I live near NYC.

Earlier today I wrote a post including the sentence "Today 6 Elul, is her 108th

You all must think I'm terribly ignorant. Of course I meant 6 Nisan.

Dear Fellow Researchers,
I have been following the "paper trail" and this has led to the following:

Ciechanowiec, Bransk: WELIN, WEBER, ZABLUDOFSKY,COHEN, ROSENBERG, and GOTLIEB

Bialystok, Ciechanowiec, Warsaw: SUKNE(variations), ROSENTHAL,
LABENDZ, PUCHINSKI, and GARBATY

Dobrzyn Nad Wisla: ROTER, BLUMENTHAL, FEIN, TSOMBOWSKY

Dobrovitsa, Wysock: COHEN, STOFFER, EISENBERG

I have a photograph that was taken about 1915 which shows two unknown family
members around the gravestone of my great grandfather R. Yosef ben R. Zvi Hersh.
He died 29th day of Adar 5674( March 15, 1915)in Poland. His last name was
SUKNE or variations.

Moses LABENDZ was supposingly a land owner in the Bialytok area. He also used
the name ROSENTHAL.

Morta Meyer GOTLIEB was a Cantor in Bransk in the late 1800's- early 1900's.

The GARBATY family was supposingly related to the GARBATY-ROSENTHALS.

The STOFFERS were a multigenerational family of Cantors.

The ROTER family were master bakers.

Would love to hear >from any relatives or fellow reserachers.

Hi,
I am trying to find an old friend on behalf of my mother. She has exhausted
all other avenues of inquiry without result. She is looking for Florence
BOCHNER who went to Theodore Roosevelt HS in the Bronx in the 1940s.
Florence had 2 sisters, Dorothy and Natalie. She married a man named Donald
and moved to NJ after 1949.

If this sounds familiar to anyone, please reply privately.

Thank you very much

Dear colleagues,

I would just like to call on you all to "brainstorm" a little as the
deadline approaches - TUESDAY, 31 MARCH 2004 - for registering claims
to assets in eastern Germany held in trust by the Claims Conference.

There is a list of such assets at www.claimscon.org and instructions on
what to do.
Does anyone know if there is anything of this nature relating to property
elsewhere, for instance in Russian Poland?

I'm looking to start a family tree on my fathers' side. I don't know
where or how to begin. My fathers family lives in New York and there
isn't many of them. The big problem is when my grandfather came to
America, he changed his name >from Tushinsky (believe thats how its
spelled) to Posner for some reason. I heard his family traces back to
Romania and Poland. Anyway if anyone can tell me how to get started,
I'd appreciate it.
