Looking for grandparent’s landowners in Miedzyrzec Podlaski area.

It came to my attention that my mother’s father (Mordko Mendla Rychter)
parents were landowners in the vicinity of Miedzyrzec Podlaski, the only
thing I am not sure if they were farmers.

I am looking for any leads on any Rychter family that may have grandparent
landowners in Miedzyrzec Podlaski area in 1833 – 1939.

Looking for any information on the subject.
Please contact me privately.

voter registration rolls, #general

Barbara Mannlein <bsmannlein@...>

Is there any way of accessing voter registration lists, both past as well as
current, on line?

If so, which states/municipalities allow one to do so?

Name " Chil" #general

Barbara Mannlein <bsmannlein@...>

Can anyone give me any info on the name Chil?

I thought I had misread records with info on a relative >from Poland who had
emigrated to South America, but I found the name again today on the French
holocaust site to which Louise Hajdenberg referred us.

" Goldblum (Chil) " is how it appeared on that list.

Mary's Street - Thank You #general

Shlomo Katz <SKATZ@...>

Thanks to all who offered suggestions in my search for the non-existent Mary's
Street in Brooklyn. It turns out to be "Maujer Street" in the Williamsburg
section. As many genners suggested, I scrolled back and forth in the
census pages and triangulated using the street names appearing in those pages.

Family List records for Ukmerge (Vilkomir), 1880 - 1895? #general

Howard Margol <homargol@...>

<<From: "Ogus, Roy" <Roy.Ogus@...>
Does anyone know if there are Family List records available for the Ukmerge
(Vilkomir), Lithuania, city and/or district, for the 1880 - 1895 time
period? I know that such Family Lists are available for some other
Lithuanian areas. If you do know of such records, do you know in which
Archives they can be found?>>

Search the database on Miriam Weiner's website, www.rtrfoundation.org
Once there, you will find out the existence of known records for Ukmerge
(Vilkomir) and for the district. Which archive the records are in will also
be given. The 1897 census for Ukmerge (Vilkomir) is quite extensive and is
included as a database on jewishgen.

database question #general

Lynne Schneider

Dear Jenners,
I have been trying to locate the ship my paternal
grandmother arrived on >from Russia. This is posing a
problem since the story of her arrival is confused by
time. This is what I have been told: Chava SAPERSTEIN
age 18, along with her 16 year old sister Anya and
their mother Dvora came to the port of New York in
1896 or 1897. They were detained at Castle Garden for
two days until an uncle (name still unknown) came to
collect them.

Yiddish Theatre and Vadeville #YiddishTheatre Clara YOUNG #yiddish

john.court@...

This is my first time on this discussion group, so I apologise if the
format is not correct.
I am doing some genealogy research and my 2 x Gt Grand mother was called
Clara YOUNG. I know that she was a singer (opera perhaps) and was born in
Germany. Her first daughter was born in America (around 1890) . I cannot
find much about her but I did find reference to a Clara Young in the index
to the Yiddish Theatre (pages 25, 36, and 58).

Could this be the same person?

Does anybody know of a transcript or online images (I have a photo of Clara
Young so I could compare), or does somebody know anything about the Clara
Young in the book? I could then confirm or dismiss this line of research.

My 2 x Gt Grand mother was born in Saxony around 1870.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Dear Genners,

I am researching the names PUGLIESI / PUGLIESE,
AMALEONI / AMALCONI / AMALEONE and DI RUSSO. I just
found my grandmothers' marriage certificate with these
names on it. We couldn't make out the Amaleoni name
and none of the variants seen to exist. Does anyone
know a similar name or know anything about these
names? One person told me that Pugliesi was Sephardic
and one person said it was ancient Roman Jewish.

Thank you for your help.
