Re: Descendants of Baron Jacob VON HIRSCH #germany

Jean-Louis Helbronner <jlhelbro@...>

David,
As far as I know, it is Maurice Gereuth, baron de Hirsch 1831-1896, was the
famously known philantropist who created the Jewish colonization in Argentina.
I assume that Jacob was the grandfather of Maurice ?
You can also contact me privately for descendants of the family.

Re: CD with old Jewish-American books #usa

Robert Friedman <rfriedman@...>

Several the titles on the CD were very familiar to me, and after a
little checking I found that virtually all of them (except the Essex
County, NJ item) are also available full-text via HeritageQuest Online.
So if you miss out on buying the CD, you can still access the books at
any library (like ours) that subscribes to HQ.

Family of R' Yaakov GESUNDHEIT #general

grosenfeld@...

I am looking for information regarding the family of R' Yaakov GESUNDHEIT, chief
Rabbi Warsaw, Poland.

My g-g-g-grandmother's name was Gittele, married to Shmaryahu Yosef KLEPFISZ
(brother of R' Shmuel Zanvil Klepfisz). It is myth/rumor/suggestion/tradition in
our family that Gittele was a Gesundheit, related, possibly sister to, R' Yaakov.
I am looking for evidence to support this. So far, I have found none.

Gittele was born approx 1830, and married R' Shmaryahu Klepfisz approx 1850.
I do have documentation for these dates. R' Yaakov was born 1815, so she could
only have been a baby sister, if at all.

Please let me know if you have any information that may help me with this
question, or if you have suggestions of where to look. I very much would like to
confirm my ancestor's family.

Thank you!
Gitty Rosenfeld

ROBBINS Family, Flint, MI 1920s, 1930's and beyond #general

Howard Orenstein

I'm trying to find out (perhaps >from 1930 Census) information on the ROBBINS (sp?)
family of Flint, MI. All I know is that a woman by the name of Rae ROBBINS was
married (I do not know her husband's first name) and there was at least one child,
Sidney ROBBINS. Rae is my ggf's (Fishel BLOOM's) sister, >from Wyszkow, Poland.
She was born sometime between 1878-1880. My aunt tells me that the ROBBINS's moved
to Flint, MI because relatives of Rae, the HOLANDs, also originally >from Wyszkow,
had lived there. Please advise if anything sounds familiar.
Thanks very much for any assistance.

David, have you tried using stevemorse.org? He has a site for missing manifest's.
You can actually go to the manifest for that particular voyage and go through
every name. It will be close to 500 pages, so it takes some time.

Last month I finally obtained my grandfather's declaration of intent which gave me
a date and ship. Sam Fihrer was listed on the Ellis Island data base as Isak
F...wler. No wonder I could never find him. The index is only as good as the
person interpreting it.

Hope this helps.
