You might try to contact the Romanian National Archives, Bucharest
branch at dmb.an@mai.gov.ro, assuming that you have enough data, and
indeed the parties had a civil marriage.

The record would register if there was a previous marriage, assuming
there was a previous civil marriage.

I do not have the date, but I do have the names of both the bride and the
groom.

Looking for Toronto obituary #general

Is there someone in Toronto Canada - even better, Richmond Hill - who can
help me with two obituaries. One is >from a year ago and the grave appears
in JOWBR. The other is >from this week.

I cannot get anything online.

Thank you.

Yiddish pronunciation of Plock #general

Martin Davis <dawidowicz@...>

Katrin Korkalainen asked: Can anyone tell me what the Yiddish pronunciation
of Plock is? Is it the same as in Polish where the "l" in Plock is
pronounced as "w"? Or do Yiddish speakers pronounce the "l" as "l"?

As many will know - the answer is neither. The Yiddish name for Plock was
'Plotsk, the old Slavic name for the town, which appears on most pre 1820s
maps.

A very good reference for this kind of nomenclature research is the YIVO
'Yiddishland: Countries, Cities, Towns, Rivers' which can be found at
http://www.yivoinstitute.org/index.php?tid=170&aid=667
