Dear Beverley

Thank you so much for alerting the Group, and me in particular, to this
excellent website. Thanks to you I have found the headstone of my great
uncle Joseph Simmons although it was wrongly attributed to a Joseph Shimons.
I had found out >from another great uncle's will that Joseph had died in
Salisbury, as it was then, but had no idea how to access any more
information. The photographs of all the headstones were amazingly good and
it was such a delight to find them in such good condition. I now look
forward to looking at the site in more depth.

Thanks again

Logan J. Kleinwaks

I am pleased to announce that a biographical sketch of the Jewish Danzig
poet and journalist Erich Ruschkewitz, by Prof. Marion Brandt of the
University of Gdansk, is now available in the Articles section of our SIG
website. Accompanying it are several poems >from Ruschkewitz's "Adlers
Brauhaus bis Leichenschauhaus" (Danzig, 1929). Thanks very much to Prof.
Brandt for this important contribution describing a Jewish contribution to
the Danzig literary environment, and to Erich's relative Frank Meisler for
supplying the poems.

Prof. Brandt would appreciate hearing >from anyone who knew Erich Ruschkewitz
personally. If you or someone you know did, please contact me.

This is also a reminder that you too can contribute biographical information
about Danzig individuals or families as an article for the SIG website. If
you are interested, please contact me with the proposed topic.
