Looking for Marion GUMPEL LAANGELAAN or her son Frank Laangelaan , possibly
in Holland.

The Gumpel family fled Berlin and settled in Quito. Also Marion's sister's
children, last name Tabaro possibly in Quito or Ambato, Equador.


They are related to me through my mother's father, Eric Liebmann and his
sister who married a Gumpel .

A facial recognition database does exist, it has been developed
I think in Israel and I have visited the website twice, it is a
subscription based site but to prove the technology they offer
a free test where you can upload a picture of a celebrity and
it recognises them, or tells you which celebrity they most
closely match. Unfortunately I can't remember the address or
name of the site. Perhaps someone else can?

I just wanted to thank all of you publicly (as well as privately) for
the help you gave me. Rodesh Shalom is a misspelling (>from a death

I just joined the group. I have been doing genealogy research for 3 years. I
consider myself to be a novice in doing German Jewish Genealogy research.
I live in Sydney, Australia.. My native language is English .and I do not speak
any other language. I consider myself intermediate in using a computer. My
experience in using the Internet is intermediate.
I have identified the names and birth and death dates of some of my
ancestors, who I believe came >from Germany, Poland and Latvia or Lithuania.

My primary research goals now are to find out more about my ancestors, and
to find older generations as well as any other family members I may have missed.
Below is a summary of some of the information I have that I believe to be
correct.

1. Koppel ROSENBERG was born 28 July 1794 in Schloppe, and died 28 November
1862. He married Rebecka. She was born in (a place that sounds like)
Leney, and died 29 March 1839.
The only child I know about of Koppel & Rebecka ROSENBERG is:

2. Wolf ROSENBERG (KOPPEL) who was born 31 October 1835, and died 17 July
1908 in Germany. He married (1) Clara Abt. 1868. She was born 24 July 1848
in Neustettin, Germany, and died 23 February 1884 in Jewish Hospital,
Berlin, Germany. He married (2) Selma or Selina, the younger sister of his
late wife, Bet. 1885 - 1886. She was born 13 November 1861 in Neustettin,
Germany, and died 18 December 1954 in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

certificate. I wonder how one can call this, "inoffizielle Kopie"
(inofficial copy) or something like that. I think I once got one this way ...

forth various restrictions on Jews and requiring that certain records be kept of
Jews.

Edikt 1813-1861; and, in English, the "Edict About the Conditions of the Jewish

been disguised or translated to vernacular in host countries, viz.
Kahn/Schiff in Germany, Kaplan in Poland Sacerdote in Italy, Aronow, B'Aron
or many others.

Otherwise, kohanim have adopted secular names without regard to parallel
meanings. My Reznik, Rotsztejn, Beron and Rappaport antecedents all were
Kohanim.
