Absolutely incredible. I passed this site on to one of our staff and
she tells me she is in utter shock: she now has a photograph of her late
father's tombstone and is now in the process of searching for others.

Hi,
I need some documents >from the archives at Zniesienie (about 2 miles out of
Lviv). Although the collection of $ is being made for some time now by
JIR-Poland it seems that the project $ will take years to achieve.
I have been having difficulty contacting the person I have been dealing with
for years in this matter. Is there a reliable researcher that is being used
by members? Is there a way I can order the documents directly? I have the
book, page and line items for the ones I need.
Please respond to me directly.

Further to my previous posting I would like to point
out that the alphabetical search is by the given name
and not by the surname. This is quite common in the
Middle East and was common in East Europe before the
introduction of surnames.

Hello Everybody
On Sun, 3 Sep 2006 02:23:07 UTC, susserl@... (lili susser) asked:
... my mother in law was on a list scheduled for deportation on 04.02. 1941.
Does anyone know where this transport was headed?
Any information will be appreciated.
Lili Susser Susserl@.........

In 2004 the Jewish Historical Institute in Warszawa published a book: Polish
Jews in KL Auschwitz - Name Lists containing more than 17.000 names of
Polish Jews with a searchable CD ROM.It might be usefull to look it up.

The nobility certainly were Christians (I'm not prepared to assert that
there couldn't have been some Protestants among them, open or secret).
But I doubt that one needed a religious qualification to be persecuted
as an "aristocrat", especially in the period of the Terror. There were
plenty of reasons for a Jew, or anyone else, to want to flee France then:

Becky (Rebecca) GOLDENBERG (nee: FONSTEIN), Australia #general

arnonh <arnonh@...>

Hello, Dear Colleagues!

Continuing to my previous posting regarding this family, I've got some
really helpful replies, and now I know the marriage name of my first cousin
once removed, about whom I've never heard until a few months.

Becky (Rebecca) GOLDENBERG was born in 1898 in Israel (then Palestine) or in
Egypt or in France, to her parents Bella (nee: HERSHKOVITZ) and Maurice
FONSTEIN.
Becky married Ruben, and they immigrated to Australia. As much as I know,
they did have at least one child.
Becky died, according to one relative's testimony, in Melbourne or Sydney
(but this is not to be taken as a full true).

I couldn't find Becky nor Ruben in the Australian Birth, Death and Marriage
Index (which consists of information until the year of 1985).

I'm desperately trying to find Becky's descendants, since the connection
with this branch of the family was lost many many years ago!
Any help will be much appreciated.

Yours,
Arnon Hershkovitz, Israel
