Date

male progenitor for Menachem Nahum, d, 1797 #rabbinic

Sam Vass <SVass@...>

I have two yDNA exact matches at 25 markers with a descendent of
Menachem Nahum of Chernobyl (Chassidisc Dynasty) and one person with
one mismatch. In addition, I have four exact matches for the first
twelve markers. These results indicate that all descend >from a
common male ancestor in the relatively recent past.

Known locations for each of the matches in the nineteenth century:
Velka Trna, Slovakia (one mismatch of 25)
L'vov (exact 12 marker)
Stanislvov (exact 12 marker)
Rivne, Ukraine (exact 12 marker)
Chernobyl, Ukraine (exact 12 marker)
Kamenets, Ukraine (exact 25 marker)
France (exact 25 marker)
Gruzdziai, Shavli, Lithuania (exact 12 marker)

Their surnames are all different >from each other.

Page 724 of Vol 2 of The Unbroken Chain by Neil Rosenstein has a
family tree:

Menachem Nahum of Chernobyl, d 1797
(who was the) son of Zvi Hirsch
son of Nathan Nata ABD Mezerich (Miedzyrzec)
son of Nahum ABD Slutsk
son of Nathan Nata ABD Hildesheim
son of Isaiah
who married the daughter of Nathan Nata SPIRA, 1585-1633 (13 Av),
author of Megaleh Amukos, buried in Krakow

I am requesting locales and birth/death dates for the above
individuals to see if locations or dates offer any hint and to
provide guidance to each of the individual matches. I also want to
know if any know of the geographic origin of the paternal line as it
is an offshoot of my own separating about 1000 years ago (and we
have an earlier apparent Sephardic branch that separated about 2000
years ago).

I am not including any surnames as I do not have permission >from those
involved to publish their names.

Rabbi Jacob Cahen Rhineland mid-late 1600s #rabbinic

Ben Forman <ben.forman@...>

Hi Genners

Is anyone familiar with Rabbi Jacob CAHEN who lived in the North
Rhineland in the 1600s (probably dead before 1710). He may have been
son of Vais CAHN and he had a son named Baruch, buried in Lechenich
cemetary.

Are there any books or literature which might tell me more about him?

Thanks as always

My ancestor Scheiner Peter was born in Csenger in 1828. He later moved
to Torokszentmiklos where he raised a large family. I have the results
of a genealogical search conducted on behalf of my father AH, but I
have nothing that tells me about Scheiner Peter's relatives or
ancestors. Can anyone tell me whether the genealogical records from
Csenger still exist?

This is an expanded and newly-edited version of the book that is on
JewishGen's Yizkor Book site. The book will be sold for $49.95;
however, for the first 30 days, the book will be sold at an
introductory price of $44.95. The book will be on display at the

the time. Robin O'Neil takes the reader step by step into the
background of the "Final Solution" and gives eyewitness testimony as
the mass graves were located and recorded.

Remember that the introductory price is available only through September 15.
