Seeking information about Elihau GLEZER of Tel Mond #general

Edwin Parks <edwin.parks@...>

Shalom

Once again I am seeking the help of my friends at Jewish Gen.

I am seeking any information about Elihau Glezer of Tel Mond in Israel. All
I know is that he served in the British Army's Pioneer Corps, possibly
during the Second World War and certainly between 1945 and 1948, because I
have a medal which has his number Rank and name - PAL/13380 Cpl E Glezer
RPC. I also have a copy of the roll of all those who qualified for the medal
which shows his details and his 1953 address in Tel Mond.

I would like to be able to research him fully but to do that I need to find
out if he is still alive and if not his date of death.

Can anyone help?

Eddie

Seeking Liza KAYSER #general

ahess <ahess@...>

Dear menbers!
We are looking for information about Lisa Kayser (born 1.4.23) on whom we
don't have any knowledge about what was with her during the Second World
War. What we know is that she went to "hachshara" with group of young people
in Stelsdof - a place near Berlin and since then she lost contact with her
family. We want to know what happened to her at the war.
Thank you in advance

Avner Hess

Greetings, In 1992 I was in Salt Lake City and located this form.

Both are variations of biblical hebrew names, iokhved of yokheved and
itska of yitschak, and can be found in the Jewishgen given names database.

Re: Naturalised British subject #general

To find details of a naturalisation record up to 1945, search the
National Archives - http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/
search.asp
The departmental, or series code is 'HO' for Home Office.
You will get a list of results, click on the link for which ever name
you think is correct. The next page doesn't give more information,
but gives a link for ordering a copy of the record, or of going to
Kew to see the original documents.
As you don't have access to any more information than the name of the
person, where he lived and when he was naturalised, you will have to
order the certificate to find out if this is the correct person. An
email copy seems to cost 32 pounds 10 per page.

The other place to look is the London Gazette which is where all
naturalisations have to be published:
http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/search

Jill Anderson
London UK
ABRAHAMSON - Lithuania, London, USA; ALTER- Austria, London; DAVIS/
DAVISON- Riga, London; HALPERIN/HALPERN - Lodz, Warsaw, London;
GINSBURG - Dvinsk, London, USA; JACOBSON - Poland, London, Hove;
MILGROM - Trembowla, London; NOR/NORR - Panevezys, USA; PEARL/PERL/
PERLE - Birzai, London, Plymouth; ROSENBERG - Lomza, London; SCHUSTER
- Rokiskis, USA; SCHWARTZ/SWARTZ - Dvinsk, Rokiskis, London, USA;
SIEGLER/ZIMBLER - Alshad, Plunge, Pumpenai, Riga, St. Petersburg,
London, Hove, USA, S. Africa.

snip...Can anyone advise me as to how to get a copy of this naturalization?

New Issue of Success! Stories is Posted on JewishGen #poland #ciechanow

We're pleased to announce the publication of the latest issue of the
JewishGen SUCCESS! STORIES webzine. You can access these stories from
the 'About Us' button on our homepage, or by following this link:

Meredith Hoffman and Nancy Siegel have worked with the authors to
edit these stories of ancestor and family connections made through
JewishGen -- the kinds of success stories we regularly read about
on the JewishGen mailing lists and discussion groups. This issue
highlights the international scope of JewishGen, with contributors
from New Zealand and Italy, Israel, and Scotland. And our new column,
'>from Our Mailbox...,' features brief stories we've received from
JewishGenners >from Canada, France, and the United States.

Several years ago, JewishGen Vice President Michael Tobias played a
critical role in one of our more intriguing stories of reconnection,
literally thanks to JewishGen. Michael tells of the startling
coincidences and the exciting role that he played in bringing together
two cousins who had last seen one another in 1940, and who each had
reason to believe that the other had perished in the Holocaust.

Geoff Isaacs and Laurie Rappeport tell two sides of another
fascinating, and different, story of discovery and connection.
In his sixties when he first learned the truth about his origins,
Geoff traveled >from New Zealand to the UK searching for more
information. Then, using the JewishGen Family Finder, Geoff
connected with Laurie, who'd waited ten years to find any others
researching her great-grandfather's family of Birmingham, England.
The cousins met, and the story ends with a satisfying twist.

Four brief stories in '>from Our Mailbox...' highlight successes made
by Debbie Kopstein Burr, Judith Elam, Edmond Cohen and Rachelle Leaf
Berliner.

We're sure you'll be inspired by these stories and we encourage you to
send Meredith and Nancy your own success stories for possible future
publication (their email address is success@lyris.jewishgen.org).

Re: Chotel in Lithuania #general

Monica asked about a town named Chotel noted on a manifest and said it
was near Kovno.

I used our wonderful JewishGen Communities database; began with the
search page at
http://www.jewishgen.org/communities/search.asp.

I searched for HOTEL in modern Lithuania...and asked for distances >from
Kovno...
Could this be the town?

Gudeliai, Lithuania at 54 deg 43' N 23 deg 36' E ......17 mi SW of Kaunas
(Kovno) also known as Gudeliai [Lith], Gudel [Yid], Gudele [Pol], Gudelyay,
Gudeliai, Gudeliai Pirmieji Gudeliai

If I remember correctly, G is used as H in this language.
