Searching: MICHEL, WEINTRAUB, WAX, Russia #general

Alison Poggi Leon <alison_poggi@...>

Hello. Using Ancestry.com, I found the MICHEL family in Seattle in the early
1900s. I believe Isadore MICHEL's father's surname was WEINTRAUB (but I don't
have evidence, records, or a reason for the change). Isadore was born in Romania,
but his parents were >from Russia. Fanny WAX was born in Canada, but I believe
her family was also >from Romania or Russia. I would love to be able to trace
the MICHEL, WEINTRAUB, and WAX families back into Russia and/or Romania, but
I haven't had any luck so far.

Isadore MICHEL born 1 January 1877,Romania -- parents Unknown WEINTRAUB & Unknown
Fanny WAX born 1 November 1887,Canada -- parents Unknown
Isadore and Fanny lived in Seattle before moving to San Francisco,CA

I will cross-post this message to the Romania SIG as well.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen Searching MINKIN #general

Alison Poggi Leon <alison_poggi@...>

Hello. Using Ancestry.com, I found that the MINKIN family came to the U.S. in
1916 & 1919. I have their emigration (boat) records; however, I have not been
able to find information for them in their home city of Maykop, Russia (and before
that, Rostov-na-Donu and Batum). This is my current "brick wall" and I would
greatly appreciate being pointed to some resources to investigate further.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Jacob MINKIN born 13 June 1882, Batum, Georgia (Russia) -- parents Mordechai
MINKIN & Unknown.
Rose LANSMAN ZHOELTICK (JOELTIC) born 1 October 1892, Rostov-na-Donu, Russia --
parents Abraham ZHOELTICK (JOELTIC) & Elizabeth.
Jacob, Rose, and their children lived in Maykop, Russia (near Krasnodar) before
emigrating to the U.S. in 1916 & 1919.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Please translate the Yiddish part of this note, written in or before 1887.
I am especially interested in whether it is dated differently >from the English

is for someone brought as a child to the US >from Lithuania, so I have to think
that the English was added sometime later than the birth. There are other
