I don't know of any specifically Egyptian Sefardic community as such,
but the largest Sefardic synagogue, that I know of, in Ioronto is:

Sephardic Kehila Centre
7026 Bathurst St.
Thornhill, Ontario
L4J 8K3

phone: (905) 669-7654
fax: (905) 669-5138

web: <http://www.kehilacentre.com/>

Maybe they can refer you to the appropriate contacts.

Looking for Yuri PAGLIN of Astrakhan, Russia (1991) #general

David Curwin <tobyndave@...>

For the past several years, I have been researching my original family
surname - PAGLIN. I have found relatives all over the world, and discovered
many interesting individuals and stories. At one point, someone mentioned
that my grandfather had a cousin who served in a high rank in the Red Army,
but was killed in Stalin's purges. At the time I couldn't find any
confirmation of this, but recently I found this site

http://www.vse-adresa.org/book-of-memory/bukva-15/name-2/surname-30/repressi
on-0&usg=ALkJrhhQKV501qN6u_CDuIHXFc1KBJIiNw
[Moderator note: shortened URL - http://goo.gl/RsjNr ]

which confirms the story. His name was Nathan Paglin, and was killed in
1937.

After further searching, I found this site:

http://stolok.info/org/a/236.php

which mentions a Yuri Paglin, son of Nathan, living in Astrakhan in the
early 1990s.

He founded the Astrakhan branch of the Moscow Agricultural Company.

I'm trying to see if he's still there - and if I could contact him or
someone >from his family.

It would be very significant to me to reconnect any members of this family
with the rest of the Paglin family. I assume they knew nothing of what
happened to the rest of the family after Nathan joined the army.

Do you know anyone I could contact there who might be able to help me? Any
other ideas on how I could continue this search?

Thanks,

David Curwin

New York State Censuses in Steve Morse's One-Step website #general

Dick Plotz <Dick@...>

Steve Morse has updated his One-Step website with new tools for the
New York censuses of 1915 and 1925.

The Name Search tool and the Viewer for the 1905 Census now search the
1915 and 1925 censuses as well. You can select year, county, AD, and
ED and get results for all three years. The Name Search tool and the
Viewer are now linked so it's easy to go >from a search to the images.
This is an improvement over the interfaces provided by both
familysearch.org, which has the images for 1905, and ancestry.com,
which has the images for 1915 and 1925.

The Name Search tool for 1905 can be accessed at

http://www.stevemorse.org/nyc/1905search.html

with a drop-down list that allows 1915 or 1925 to be selected.

An Ancestry subscription is required to view the 1915 and 1925 images.

Ellen Massie and others who plan to visit Paris and want to view the
small exhibit --I did visit it today and this is the information I have:

I don't have the full address of the local city hall--just the street
address as its in a local city hall building in the 3rd section --I took
a taxi >from the hotel which is why I only needed the street address

Maire du III

open Monday -Friday 8:30-5 PM
phone number 01-53-01-75-03

Name of exhibit: La Raffe du veldrome d'hiver Les Archives de la Police

Its a small exhibit-very moving. There should be a small pamphlet available
starting Monday. Sunday is the special dedication therefore, they were not
making them available until after then--only in French --with some of the
photographs--it will be free I was told.

I asked if someone wants to check about their family--they can't do that
at the exhibit, but was advised by the 3rd section mayor to contact the
