Dear Barbara:
"Schmuck" is more generally "decoration." Hallenschmuck would be the flowers, etc.
that are part of the decorations for a funeral or other event.

Finding visitors, not emigrants #general

JudiZimmer

Some recently discovered photos seem to suggest that at some time in the 1920s or
1930s, great-great grandparents of mine >from Smela, Russia (now Ukraine) made a visit
to New York. No living family member has any knowledge of this possible visit and I
could not find any information on either ancestry.com or ellisisland.org. Is there
any way to find records that would confirm this?

Hope someone can help. I was searching for the Wroclaw burials database on the
YIVO website. I thought I had found the one I was looking for. It's all in

translated the column headings. >from what I've surmised it's >from German

So has one of the online translators. This makes no sense.
