Viewmate: Lithuanian Travel Documents - Translation from Polish, Russian, and Lithuanian #general

Dear Group,

Happy Fourth of July to everyone in the United States.

I have received travel documents for Rabbi Eliezer Predmesky and family.
The family fled his hometown in Lithuania, first around 1916 and later
he left Europe to the USA around 1922.

A descendant of his in Israel shared some copies with me. Can anyone
translate the pages >from the Polish/Russian/Lithuanian?

help locating SCHVITZER/SCHWITZER/LUSTIG family in Israel #general

I am trying to locate Zev SCHVITZER/SCHWITZER or his descendants/
family members or Moses LUSTIG, his nephew. Mr Schvitzer filed a
Yad Vashem Testimonial for his sister, Ruchel/Rachela Itte (nee
KEMPLER) Lustig in September, 1956. Ruchel married Abraham LUSTIG
and they had a son, Moshe/Moses who was living in Israel, possibly
Ashkelon as of 1971. Abraham Lustig was my Grandfather's brother.
He was born in Limanova (possible Nowy Sacz) and it is believed
that he died between 1970-1976 in probably Ashkelon. I am totally
blocked with this side of the family and any assistance would be
greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance,

Hello All

My father zt"l all ways said his family was >from Spain if you went all
the way back I have been think about it and I was wondering if there
might be a way for me to find out if this is true.

I have found a U.S. Naturalization Records for my Great Great Great
Grand Mother which says her husband came >from Pinsk, Russia. She was
born in 1874 they were married in 1896 in Kovno. My G G G Grandfather
name in the USA was Louis his Hebrew name is Zalman Leib ben Moshe
last name when they came to the USA became Schaffer but on there
arrival documents it says the name last name was SCHEWACH or SZEWACH
or SHEVAKH not sure of spelling. They came to the USA In 1903-1904.
His father was Kiva. I believe they were >from Pinsk. My friends have
told me this is a Sephardic name is this true? If it is how would
start to find out if the where Sephardic? Thank you for your help in
this matter.

You can be quite certain that, if the Korban Nesanel had been a Levi, it
would be mentioned in his "yichus" (ancestry).

Ergo, the lack of such mention by his son in his pedigree is conclusive
evidence that he was not a Levi.

Bessarabia Revision List Updates from June 2014 #bessarabia

Dear Researchers,

12,756 Revision records were added to the Bessarabia Revision database.
Thanks to all volunteers who worked many hours to make this happen.
Shortly the records will be available at JewishGen - Romania-Moldova
Database. We have now total of 81,438 Revision records.

The mew addition includes oldest records found so far: >from 1824, these are
records >from 4 kehilot in the Khotin district: Khotin, Brichany, Lipkany and
Otaki (Otaki was in Khotin district in 1824, and after that became part of
Soroki district). These are very different records include Heads of
Households, usually men, but also widows with children who could work in the
fields. The geography is very much not what we would expect in 1824. Only
in Khotin kehila Jews lived in 70! localities, and overall in 4 kehilot they
lived in about 200 localities.

Also almost all records have a set of personal characteristics of the
person: type of a face, nose, color of hair, eyes, some other special
features.

In addition to 1824 records, we have records >from 1835 - 1859 for towns of
Teleneshty, Faleshty, Orgeev, Tuzora (Kalarash), Kriulyany, Kaushany,
villages >from Bendery and Orgeev districts, Bricheva, Markuleshty,
Mereshevka, Soroki and Gancheshty.

In several days, after the Bessarabia SIG website is going to be updated,
you can find the details of all sets of records worked >from summer of 2013
up to June of 2014.

about my great grandmother and her five children and have hit a brick wall.
My great grandmother, Yente Schneiderman KAMINKER and her children traveled
from possibly Korets, Ukraine, in 1898 or 1899. At the time of travel,
Yente (Jenny) was approximately 30 years old. She brought with her
children Pauline (Perel?), age 15, Simon, age 8, Ida (Chaya) age 5, Ester,
age 3 and Louis, age 2. She was going to her husband Baruch (Barnet)
Kaminker who had come the year before on 5 Jan 1898 >from Vilna through
Canada to Lawrence, Mass. I have looked everywhere. Can anyone help with
